For a summer, they're easily my favorite.. and they're the absolute top performer.
If you want something a little milder, better for daily driving but still delivering excellent grip, i recommend the Continental Extreme Contact DW

They're a summer only tire with a wet bias, so they are insane in the rain.. and their sidewalls are softer so there's less road noise and smoother ride. I've got a set on my wagon for the summer and they're great for that purpose.
Basically, the Z2 will be better than the NT05, while the Conti will be about as good, with longer wear and more comfort, sacrificing the razor sharp turn in and feed back of the Z2.

Going to try out the Z2's thanks. My biggest gripe about the NT05 is that after 3-4 laps on the Brainered track I lose all confidence in them. They heat up real quick even with experimenting with different air pressure.

Not sure I want to spend that money and time to have 6 quarts of oil instead of 5.
I thought about getting the Z out soon, but temps are supposed to slip down to snowing weather by next week. What a waste.

I can't believe they can command that price for an automatic with 150k miles.

It might go quicker than you think. It has a respectable brand name body kit on it but those wheels and the red color on that car are killing it. Along with not having it dropped. Atleast the interior is in decent shape

They heat up real quick even with experimenting with different air pressure. If you're tracking, i'd actually reccomend the Hankook RS3 instead. It enjoys heat better than the Z2.
The Z2 is great for autox in these climates, as well as a day-to-day very agressive tire because it's ready to go always. It takes little to no heat to actually stick, but there are overheating problems if you're going to pummel it for long terms. Autox we can rectify this with spraying, but on a road course it may not be favorable.
The Hankook RS3 on the other hand LOVES heat.. so much so that it's not great for autox in this climate, as you'll have to **** away at least one run bringing it up to temp.. on a road course though this would be perfect. It hasn't been popular among chump teams like the dunlops have because of it's TW rating not making their minimums, but the new version does, and i think you'll see alot of teams switching.
Just don't try to use 'em in the rain, and be aware to take it easy in the twisties before you really start hammering.
Added bonus points? They're generally cheaper than the Z2s.
But you're going to find any street tire getting greasy on a road course.. it's just too much heat for 'em.

Risen,
The Conti DW is pretty much exactly where you want to be.
I love 'em on my wagon (Legacy GT), and have used them in autox conditions as well.. They're damn grippy but more focused on wet than the NT05 would be so they're very safe and predictable for daily driving.
Any of the tires listed will last a summer, as long as you're not hooning it everywhere, but the Conti comes in at 300 UTQG so it'll last a little longer than the others.
Pick up a set of those, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the grip levels.

Continental ExtremeContact DW.
Look, there's no magical super sticky tire that's going to put all that down to the ground and be good at everything. In the "daily driver" category, those tires are the best. You wanna track? then look at the RS3s or Z2s I recommended earlier. Drag guy? You can get some street drag slicks that will hook better than anything else i've listed, but will be squishy as all hell and turn like *****.
The simple answer is, whatever tire you buy, you're going to need alot of it. And what do you know? the DW comes in a 285/35-18.
Beyond that.. Have you built a car with this much HP before? do you understand what kind of a serious pain in the *** that kind of output brings with it? costs?

I havent built one this high before but have turbo'd other cars so know the extra money and care needed that goes along with it. As far as tires talking with my Co with his STI and a buddy with his Cobra I think I have it narrowed down to 3 brands looks like I will just have to see what works best for me.
