I started this thread hoping it would be easier for you guys to keep race discussions uninturrupted by general meet discussions. So pardon my endless list of photos. Feel free to share these with race buddies on other websites. I'm sure they would appreaciate the pics. If anyone wants originals, PM me with a copy of the photo wanted and I will send the original raw file.
A few shots from Today's SCCA opener on Belle Island in Detroit ...
The course:

This thing rocked!

I couldn't see the 370Z driver clearly ... anyone we know?

The grid:

I loved this EVO. The sound of the blowoff valve is a beautiful thing.

Sorry for so many Pics Deepu, I'm sure you don't mind.

This guys cheeses it up for a pic:

View of the pits:

The Factory Five Cobra was awesome. He didn't push it too hard.

More lining up ...

More ... tired yet?

More EVO

This lil lady did very well in her Mustang ...

More Cobra:

Gotta love these Karts ...

This lil Miata skid straight for the fence and fire hydrant. (Just after the final timing light.) I imagine they need a change of shorts after that incident.

I need to upgrade the body and get some good tele lenses. I really enjoy taking the event photos.
Thanks guys. I'd love to. I used to have a small collection of lenses for the Canon. Then one year I went to the Indy 500 and set my backpack down to get some car photos with the Toyota guys in the parking lot. It disappeared in seconds. Never saw it again. I figure I lost $1500 in lenses. Dumb ... just plain f'in dumb of me.

Luckily I was able to recoup some of it by filing an insurance claim.

For all the guys participating at the track events, do you have some kind of coverage on your Z's or are you prepared to walk away if something terrible happens to your car?
I have been trying to gather some information and have come across the following thread which is very informative
https://my350z.com/forum/autocross-r...surance-8.html
The gist of it is following carriers offer track insurance
1. http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com
2. http://www.wsibinsurance.com/
I also know that the regular insurance WILL NOT cover any damage to your car even at an autocross. I am prepared to take that risk (speaking for myself) as it is less likely to crash a car and total at an autocross than at a track.

Lapeer Dragway worked out really well for practice. It's rustic, with a dirt parking lot and a strip that isn't as pretty as Milan.. but I made 9 passes in 2 hours taking my sweet 'ol time. I could have beat my car to hell if I wanted to.
There is a concession stand, and a restroom, and room to setup a tent if you wanted. For street cars like ours, I think it's just fine. There were 10sec cars and bikes there too. I'd go again - but maybe not right after a heavy rain
Best time - and my personal best all time - Car 209
