some reading in preparation for a rainy track day:

I am having second thoughts about the track day tomorrow. I might show up anyway as I have the day off. I will decide once I am there if I want to drive. It's redonkulous that it has to rain only on the day of the event.
Yeah... I don't have any shelter to dry out in afterwords so I'm pretty nervous about it. :P I'm going to do the same and go to the track and see if I can stomach the rain.

They do have awnings we can hangout under. And there's also a building where the class room sessions are held.
Everybody, don't forget to bring your track inspection sheet signed AND the grid sheet for on track inspection:

Man you guys are gungho for this huh?
Rain is the "great equalizer" for most people
Watch yourselves out there, I don't want to get a "rebuild party" invitation..haha
Lee- you are new to track days so be real careful man. Also the tires on the sport BLOW in the rain so tread lightly...hahah

If you don't like it, you can pull back into the pits and call it a day whenever you want. Stop scaring him AJ!

You are right though.. not very gungho - but I'll try to make the most of it. I'm not running in torrential downpours though.

These RE050s are TONS better than the oem 350z tires in the rain... I don't feel like I'm going to die every time I go around a curve in the 370.
I'm really only worried about damaging the interior...

WOw
You could not ask for a WORSE day for tracking....
For all of you there/ that went I will give you points for *****.
I would not "race" in this....
Hell driving on the road is a treat today let alone a track...
Watch the hill top!

Well, the weather wasn't too bad. It dried up a bit in the morning, got wet again after lunch, and dried up toward he end of the day. Luckly it never poured when we were on track. I would almost say it was ideal since it poured in the morning to get the track wet but let up during the day.
For the most part it was a good day. Driving in the rain definitely teaches you a lot and I'm glad I got to experience it.
See everybody next week at zdayz!

Nizmo, 350, Nizmo, 350.
My car is in the picture! You can see it just over Lee's car on the right.
I got all of session 2 and session 3. There is a lot of junk in them so I'll have to edit them a bit before I can post. I want to cut the audio too... the open back was not the right choice for the gopro. You can hear the exhaust at some points and bits of me and the instructor, but mostly just wind noise.

I was glad to be at the track with so many Z's out there
. But, I don't think I liked it that much as I was struggling with multiple issues
- I felt the tires were not up to the task in wet conditions and I did not have to confidence in them
- The negative camber (with the addition of camber arm) was far more evident in the turns than my last experience with it at Grattan last year. I guess because Waterford is a tighter track. It took me a couple of sessions to get used to it and smooth out my steering input. It was like driving a totally different car
- This being the very first track day of the season, I was a bit rusty
I was being very conservative and was the slowest in my group
But I am glad I did that and came home safe. All in all it was a very GOOD DAY considering it was supposed to pour hard all day.
