Hmmm... less than a week to go and still no pre-registration on the WWSCC sit for SCS. PDX_Racer - any word on when pre-registration will be up? No rush, I'm guessing you stil might be on the road heading back from Nationals at the time of this posting.

I used to have a VQ...

I'll head up to this event and see where I fall. My car isn't exactly made for AutoX and I'm a little rusty, but a little competition never hurt anyone.

Is it at the Boeing lot?

BTW- I have no idea how to class my car. I have my SCCA license, etc etc..so there's no issues...just need help with registration.

Hey DrVolkl! This isn't a BEAC practice day, if it were; no worries, I'd cover ya. This is a WWSCC Championship event (last event for the year) that we're planning on going to just to see where we all rank in relation to each other ins sorta an official (since timing is sanctioned unlike a practice day). So yeah, you're more than welcomed to join us.

I think whatever car you choose to drive that day, you would enter Novice class. Just like Triple8Sol, you've got autoX experience but since it's all practice day seat time, it doesn't count towards competative experience.

I got a look at a rough draft of the course; it'll be true to form of SCS and be a more open course than most Evt autoX. Should be good for Z cars, Skylines and NSX's.

I would love to try out the S4 (especially if it's raining), but I think I'll see how the NSX does with the new gears and rear end.

I checked the website, still no registration info. What time does it start?? I drop the wife and baby off at the airport around 7am...then I have to go home and switch cars and bust up there.

If I can do "novice" then no problem....makes it a LOT easier.

for novice class, you can choose either AM or PM. Sounds like you'd have to run in the PM b/c registration for the AM usually starts around 7:30 (IIRC). I think PM registration opens around 11:30am.

Sounds like a plan. I managed to talk my wife to taking the kid to spend time w/ her parents which is why I can make it to this event.

The day is divided into 2 sessions; AM/PM so you don't have to be there all day for just 3-5 runs. Both sessions have a Novice class. You can only run in 1 Novice class session for the day. Keep in mind Novice is a "run-what-you-brun" class so it doesn't matter what you drive (as long as it's on street tires) or your level of modification (legal per WWSCC rules, FYI - Nitrous is not allowed); usually the guys that bring the 'bigger guns' in that class do better, but skill is still the true factor in winning in that class.

IMO its better to do the AM since it tends to go quicker and frees up the rest of your day. But it tends to be colder and wetter now that the rain is back. AM registration runs from 7:30-8:30. If this will be your first time, try to get there at least by 8AM cuz you have to get your car ready for Tech Inspection and get your course walks in before the Driver's Meeting.

I'll most likely be running in the PM, but First350 will be there in the AM if you need some assistance.

I also got the email that said modified runs in the AM and stock runs in the PM. So does that mean I have to run the S4? Or does novice negate everything and I can run whatever I want?

Either way, PM sounds better anyhow. (Nevermind, I just read your above post)

If it's raining, I'll bring the S4...if it's dry, NSX.

Correct, Novice class negates everything. A stock 80's Geo on winter tires can go against a modified SRT-10 Viper in Novice class. Ofcourse it helps to have a Viper if you're looking to win or trophy. Novice class is intended for guys to cut their teeth on the sport before joining a regular class. You are allowed 3 novice attempts until you have to choose a regular class.

LOL.... no nothing to prove, it's not about that. We already know that you're the fastest Z driver. This is just for fun and unoffical forum bragging rights. As it looks right now, Even though you're the faster driver, First350 should have the fastest car. Possibly Triple8Sol if we factor in the street tire vs R-comps. I'll be bone stock on street tires, so I'm not looking to be able to hang w/ you 3. But I'm gonna try like Hell!

I'm sure based on the results they'll be A LOT of discussions that'll follow.

Yep, $30 for the event; $25 for registration + $5 one time fee for the rule book.

I guess we should mention that if anyone wants to come out to this event just to watch, you're more than welcomed to, admission is free. But autoX is not a spectator's sport, it's a lot more fun if you're in it.

After listening to Jim Julow (SCCA Pres.), Solo is actually quite interesting to watch. I'm sure that my wife and kids would agree.

But I've only got 5 years of experience on you...

Well, at least for the last two days of last week, at least.
