Grass Vally Speedway Z car run - Sept. 19th
This Saturday is the Grass Valley Speedway Z car run. Meet time is 9:00am in the parking lot of Beaches (near I-5 and on the waterfront) in Vancouver Washington. The joining Z cars will take off at 9:30am.
As set up by Greydog:
This is short notice, we'll sort of "play it by ear", there are some great roads, lots of small towns and some country we seldom drive.
Should be fun!
Possibilities along the way are Shaniko, picture ops at Bonneville, Hood River, Maryhill Winery, Dufur, Maupin, the road along the Deschutes, Shearers Falls on the Deschutes, Stonehenge and more.

Hi all.
Thanks to Gordon I've been in touch with the people at the Grass Valley Raceway. It's looking like we'll be able to get a tour of the track and perhaps a parade lap!
We're planning on leaving Beaches and heading up the Washington side of the Columbia to Highway 97, then heading south to Grass Valley.
Tentatively we'll stop a couple places along the way, most likely Stonehenge for some photo ops and one or two other spots, We'll probably grab lunch at Biggs (truck stops and fast food joints) then get on down the road.
The trip back offers some flexibility, we can cross the Deschutes at Shearers Falls or follow the river access road up to Maupin. Then it's either south to Tygh Valley or back through Pine Grove Government Camp.
Us Washingtonians can drop off on Highway 35 through Hood River and home or?
This is gonna be a good trip!
I'll be wheeling out Z Sport and taking my girlfriend on this Z cruise and looking for some great photos,
See you guys there!

From what I've heard this is an all brand new road course/ racetrack and the drive is being made to see it in person as it is said to be very exciting to run.
Sounds like we might be able to check it out ourselves by putting our Z cars on the track and running the course. This maybe a rare chance to run this new smooth track ourselves - in our own sports cars.

IT WAS FUN! 9 Z cars still showed up and heading east we found no rain - dry roads and plenty of sunshine. We did get to drive the road course - behind a pace car to regulate our speed. Known as "The Oregon Speedway" This road course is pretty impressive: Blind turns - off camber angles - ups and downs (300 foot elevation changes) and a sharp "S" turn with very high banked sides which track officials call "The half pipe".
You would have to see and run it to believe it.
Photos to come....
