Default Heart skipped a beat.

The other night when it was raining cats and dogs I was driving over Hwy 17 (SJ to S. Cruz) when all of sudden the *** end gave loose. I had the TCS on so it kicked in immediately and the car recovered. I know a lot of folks drive without TCS on (I do to) but with the rain I decided to leave it on this time. I don't know what would have happened with it off but a skipped heart beat was worth it.

Close call, glad you came out unscathed.

Just curious, but are you running on stock tires? They're notoriously bad in the rain.

no mater how bad the RE-040 are. what happened is that there was a puddle of water and the front tires were slower suddenly. and once the Z is RWD. the rear wheels where pushing until the TCS engage. F1 cars suffer with this problem on the rain even do they are using state of the art tires. This is why they keep both hands on the steering wheel. any ways I swap my rears for bridgestone S-03

Zcool,
Your heart skipped a beat or two but I hear that's good for the body. Kinda like a jolt with the paddles but glad you came out of it ok.

Highway 17 makes me nervous too in the rain. I had my TCS kick in on Old SanJose Rd the other daywhen I kicked it a little too early in a curve. good recovery but a wake up call for me running on stock tires. I'm switching to good year F1 soon.

Glad you came out of it okay Zcool! 17 is difficult as it is at night & to add rain to that...I'd say that's pretty tense driving.

As I recall, don't you have Michelin All-Weathers Pilot Sports? I would thing these would stick to the road fairly well on wet weather.

That's right. I do have the Micheline Pilot Sports AS. Even upgraded tires have a slipping point.

They don't suck that bad!! works pretty good on the track on a rainy day

Zcool, glad you were able to save that one!! Yeah, in general, I usually keep the TCS or in my case VDC on unless I'm about to do some spirited driving.

Yeah, that's very true. Like Dave, I usually always keep my VDC on (especially on wet weather) unless I'm going to do some spirited driving.

You don't really know the Z until you see the back end in front of you.
