if so, you'll need an o2 sim.

i have an '03 and and my test pipes do not throw a CEL. but i read that '04s and newer can get CELs when running test pipes.
i have an 04, its not a check engine light, i dont think, it just says service required. i figured it is a maintenance light. What is this 02 sim you guys are talking about to fix the problem?
Service Engine Soon...aka SES light. This is from your test pipes if you recently installed them. The 2ndary O2 is reporting a non-working cat(s)... Either reset the ECU and wait for it to come back on again, put your cats back on, or do the o2 sims like everyone has been saying...only ways around it. Some cars do it more than others....some will never throw the code at all....my 05 did every 300 miles...until I rewired my O2s...
good luck

"service engine soon" light? at 10801 mine kicked, but was related to a throttle position sensor. Mine triggered when starting first thing one morning. "Slip" light flashed and "TCS" light stayed on which is strange because the default is off or blacked out. I have to push a rectangular button to turn it off. Rob F., ZCG, checked it, explained it, reset it, drove my Z, and the light has never returned. Excellent follow up by Rob when performing his diagnostics to my vehicle. And his service was super speedy as well. rich, san jose, ca

I recently picked up an 05 350z. Got the nismo intake and ordered test pipes and headers. I plan on picking up an o2 sim just incase the SES light comes on. My only question is will I need two o2 sims because there are two cats. BTW here is the contact info for casper electronics. The part number of the o2 sim is #104052

If anyone knows if ill need two of them let me know.

It will all depend on how their o2 sim is set up. Typically you need one o2 sim circuit per o2 being simulated. I've never heard of casper electronics, so I couldn't tell you for sure about theirs. The chances are, unless their circuit has dual outputs for both of your 2ndary o2 sensors, you'll need to buy two.

350Z ECU Resetting Procedures
Please read all instructions and be familiar with them before any attempts.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
ECU Resetting Procedures
Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

Isn't this also like the maintanence light?
Its been 4 1/2 months... since my last oil change... Its a stock car.
When I turn the key to the second slot.... (where most of the dials light up)
The SES, Oil Light and Battery lights comes on... When I start the car all the lights turn off...
I'm assuming its time for oil change....
