Hey Peeps,
Im looking to get away for a weekend (preferably this month) and get a little fishing in. I also want to collect my sanity with little to no interaction with other people. I have NEVER been to Tahoe other than to do a little gambling for a few hours about 5-6 years ago. I searched on internet but Im hoping there are some people on here that may know where there is some good fishing out there comboed with a cabin that is somewhat secluded. I dont care if it is on the California or Nevada
I would rather it be a small cabin for just me but I guess I can get a few of my friends to tag along if the cabins are big. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

There is a pretty large variety of cabins in tahoe, everytime i stay at a cabin its a friend of a friend and we get a deal. ALL of which were rediculously baller cabins lol...so its hard for me to give you any input on that if you dont know anyone
However where are you planning on fishing? do you have a boat? Shore fishing in Tahoe is pretty horrible IMHO

I went out on a tour boat for a fishing trip and we were catching mackinaw's at around 900 ft or more in some cases (no joke). We were on a boat with a fish finder and still even then not everyone on the boat caught a fish, i think my gf was the only one but still just goes to show you. I caught two just on my own.
Your better off calling around places in Tahoe to find out about the shore fishing but im willing to bet its not a very good idea to go to tahoe just for that. There is TONS of stuff to do in tahoe like Hiking or backpacking. Echo Lake you can drive to and i think they stock the lake with fish (not sure what kind though i forget). We have backpacked from Echo lake to Lake of the woods (about a 8 mile hike) and thats another REALLY nice secluded lake to do some fishing. I had to carry 4 days worth of gear on my back or else i would have brought a pole with me
but i have heard the fishing up there in either of those lakes is nice. Echo lake has a bunch or really nice looking cabins right on the water, you might want to look into that. I talked to one of my friends and he advised to check out http://www.vrbo.com/
You can search all over the country for house/cabin rentals. I guess you can find some really good deals on there so i hope that gives you a good start on things!

Thanks man
I will take a look at those links and maybe call some of the fishing gear shops to see if they can offer some guidance. I dont want to fish with strangers, but I dont mind renting a boat for a day or 2 while Im out there.

I wouldn't shore fish around tahoe. You will never catch anything other than minnows. I usually go to Boca resevoir or Stampeed. Its about 20 min from Reno. Just pitch a tent and have fun. Cabins are for city folk.

I went up to check out the cabin I rented for this summer for my wedding a few weekends ago. It sleeps ten and it's only costing me $200 for the weekend. If you're into something that large I can give you the digits. It is real close to the southshore boarder on the Cali side.
