120,000 on my car now... mobil1 was used from 20-80,000. Switched to royal purple at 80,000 and car has been running great. Oil pressure is the best it has been. Just seems that rp doesn't last as long as other synthetics

You don't have problems yet but I don't think it's worth the chance. Put it this way cummings put a ban on using royal purple in their engines due to the high wear characteristics. Just because your motor is running it doesn't mean anything. Your bearings can be slowly wearing down. I've seen many engines with bearing failures while using all kinds of oil. Bearing failure doesn't necessarily mean it's the oils fault but I've seen waay too many of them happen to have royal purple in it. Enough where it makes you think.

hmmm is royal purple is as bad as people say it is, then which oil should be used then? i see the amsoil atm 10w-30 isn't too bad but is it accessible on this island? i run royal purple and change every 2,000-2,500, i never wait till 3,000 for the change, so far i've been using it for 10,000 miles, but with this bearing wear issue i've been hearing about from more than one shop and friends...out of all this oil running around, which is the oil on this island can be bought without wear properties coming into play, i read the graphs, and they all sound and look good, so now the question lies in, which one?
