The SD850 IS or SD750 IS may be worth the upgrade.

ummm 7.1 megapixels is pretty good - i think theyre all the same when looking at just normal digital cameras. Much different if we are discussing high tech canons.

well we were looking at the sd750 not a big difference just .5 bigger lcd and more options that my sister wouldnt use. so she got the sd1000. canon makes some good cameras..

image quality is not as sharp as the old canons, don't know why

Yes, but the Image Stabilization may be worth it.

ya i could say image stabilization is really good to have cuz my camcorder doesnt have one and it sux a$$ but its too late she already got the sd1000.

ill take some pics of my car or something to test it out

If she's looking to shoot manually at all or do any serious photography I would recommend against it.

If she's looking to take snap shots of everything and anything, i.e. at parties, of friends hanging out, etc., then this camera will be fine.

I have a bunch of Cannons. The SD850IS is pretty damn nice, and the IS does come in handy. Its nice and light too. 30D is more fun though....

The sd1000 is a nice camera. My buddy has it and it has nice colors and contrasts along with good facial recognition. I love my sd850is for point and shoot and rebel xt for quality shots.
