Thx! yep, i think it might be too much hightlight? heres one of my dog i did, looks better with no highlight. but still the clouds still look terrible. grr.
you have some nice HDR photos. i think that most HDR picture should be subtle and not blown out of portion.
anyone wanna take an attempt at trying an HDR of a person?..just curious to see more of how they look
I've tried it before, it's really hard to get someone to sit still for that long though Best bet would probably be to take a RAW shot of them and then just tone map it in Photomatix.

Hmm.. you could try shooting the pictures at a lower ISO if it's a night shot. Other than that, all I can really tell you is to mess around with the sliders until you find something you like.
Here's a picture of a sunset in my neighborhood last night..
Those are some very nice shots, dkorr. This is a landscape shot I took in HDR a while back. It's a little less "cartoonish". Perhaps it will be closer to some of your tastes..

wow.... NICE
those pics are not mine... they examples of good HDR that i'm trying to learn from...
usually when i do an HDR shot you cant tell. HDR shots should look like a normal photo with proper exposure. not like a painting. sometimes it looks cool though and i was some what happy with the one above with its sorta airbrushed look.
here's another HDR shot i did almost 2 years ago, this one looks more life like and not airbrushed
for those who have photographed a black car in frame with a light colored car know how frustrating it can be, bc you wind up getting an over exposed car and an under exposed car with too much contrast. i think that shot was like 5-9 photos i dont remember exactly . the black titan kept throwing everythign off with the yellow z06 infront of it and then my Z being infront being lightest color.
EDIT: and heres one i jsut took literally 15 mins ago... it was nothing special at all just took it cause it was on the way back heading inside lol
