Default CIN Motorsports-STS rear mount turbo-533rwhp/521 torque

UPDATE - more power made, check out the later posts.

So the initial build set up for my car done. A while back I saw and heard a video of a Z with an STS kit and loved the sound. I was immediately interested in seeing just how much the kit could make. No one that I could find was running the kit above 10psi or so, and no one with a built motor. I started looking into built motors, and contacted Built Z Motors. Todd hooked me up with a great motor, the details of which are not being released just yet. After I had the motor, I started looking to see who I could get to do the install. I had talked to a local shop, but after thinking long and hard, I decided that although not as close, CIN Motorsports was the shop for me. I am EXTREMELY happy that I chose them, they really surprised me with all the help they gave me. No matter what my questions, someone would always take the time to answer anything I asked. They even drove to my house, 2 hours from their shop, to pick up my car since I was deployed and had no way to get it to them.

The build process was deliberately long and slow, and with the advise of the guys at the shop, all the parts and components of the build were purchased. They really gave me solid advise, not just buy this or that because its the most expensive. When I would ask about a part that I thought I needed, they would tell me whether or not it was worth the money, or if the money could be put to better use on a different part. They definitely helped save me money on things that I would have bought, that I now obviously don't need.

Once all the parts were at the shop, it was time to start the build. While Bobby started on the engine assembly, the Headers and Test pipes were sent to HPC for their 56% coating. Once they made it back, the motor went into the car, with a little custom paint from Bobby. After the engine was in, the remainder of the car went together quickly, including a set of BC Racing BR series coilovers.

The hardest part of the entire project was the first week after picking up the car. I was told to be easy on the car, and not to get into any boost. I was only driving it to get some miles on the engine, and break it in. Within the first 3 days I have the miles on the motor, and was ready to get it tuned. Bobby and I drove to Performance Factory in Orlando, Fl, and from there Jeremy worked his magic. On the first pull the car made 440 rwhp at just under 11psi. Jeremy continued to tune and do adjustments, and by the end of the day the a solid run producing 533rwhp/521 ft/lbs at 18psi was made. We then switched to C16 race gas and Jeremy did a little more tuning and the car cranked out 603 rwhp/ 550 ft/lbs at 21psi. Of course a Huge fan of Go big or Go home, Jeremy was ready to make a pull at 25psi, but I decided to hold off on what we had got for the time being. (I do not have the dyno sheets to post right now, but maybe Jeremy can post them and add his thoughts on the car)

Although we, CIN Motorsports and I, were happy with the numbers, I want to make higher numbers. I have talked with Bobby and we have started throwing around some ideas of future changes/upgrades. Overall, for the initial set up of the built, I am very happy with car.

I want to thank everyone who helped get this project up and running especially:

CIN Motorsports (Bobby, Derek, Joe, and Sana) - with out you all I'd have is a garage of parts

Hal at Injected performance - With out your help of a base tune the Haltech would just be a paperweight.

Performance Factory - Thank you Jeremy for the long hours and a great tune.

HPC for a great coating on the exhaust compartments

And all the vendor on My350Z for get prices on many of the parts I bought.

(If I forgot anyone, I apologize, so many people helped contribute, I will give you all credit, please just remind me)

Now for some pictures

I will take some video within the new few days so you can hear how loud the turbo is. Think of an 18-wheeler on the highway, then multiply that by 10, the turbo really screams.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Let the Hatin' begin

Jeremy will have to chime in on that, he said his Dyno always reads low. Also, this was made at the end of the day with a very very hot motor.

Great #'s! More details on the Turbo you are using please, also did you have to upgrade the pipe or you are using standard pipes from STS? Goosegoose also have a built motor and it will be great if you can share some info.

Currently I am running a GT 67 Ball bearing turbo, with a .68 A/R. However, plans for changing it up are in the works. The charge air piping is the standard piping from STS. The Exhaust is Strup Headers and AAM Test pipes, both coated by HPC. The rest of the exhaust has been header wrapped all the way back.

I can't comment on the Goosegoose's build

Exterior is on my list of things to do, however at the bottom of my list. Pretty means nothing to me, HP and speed are my focus.
