Great work guys!

To answer a previous question...the reason you don't see more 1000whp+ builds, is because few paying customers want to slap on the big turbos, and other things required to achieve those power levels. The simple bolt on turbo kits won't cut it. As the Supra, and Evo guys know....there is no replacement for a large turbo, and the ultra low backpressure they provide. We're making nearly 140whp/cylinder on pure pump gas with the Evo and a big turbo. Of course, you exchange the beefy midrange that many VQ35 customers are accustomed to, for brute top end thrust.

Hats off to a great setup and tuning...have fun!

They have been building 1,000+ whp Supras for years (before the existance of the VQ35DE and before many of the other poplular VQ shops on this forum opened their doors) and are now applying that knowledge and experience to the VQ platform. Many of the other shops here on the boards simply don't have prior experience building 1,000+ whp cars.

This isn't intended as a slam or bash to the other popular shops on here. But it's a fact that's hard to ignore or dismiss as the VQ platform is progressing to 4-digit power levels.

I also think the recent advancements in engine management with the Haltech and ProEFI are also a big factor enabling our platform to get to the next level.

It also has to do with the fact that not that many people (who can financialy make it happen) actually feel that they need a 1,000 whp car.

its comes down to money and personal preference, theres a 650rkw supra here in OZ that a very good friend of mind owns which in your readings is about 9xxrwhp, and on the street even with more power my Z beats it so its depends what you want to acheive out of your car, if it is a striaght drag car well you have seen that you dont need that much power to make good numbers down the 1/4mile if its Dyno comps you like then go for it

well done guys with your acheivments and future acheivements from Australia

Yeah, the supra community said that too ten years ago and now there are a few hundred well over 1000!! Do the math of the ratio of supras made to 350s/Gs and eventually there will be thousands of Zs over 1K soon!!

Just takes the awareness that it is possible.......

I agree...I thought about having FP get me to 1000+ whp...but loved the way Luie's car built power. Bottom end I am willing to give up...but no way am I willing to give up strong Mid Range.

Yeah, but I think you mean "at most once" - since you're odds of dying increase exponentially, you don't get too many 2nd chances... Go type in "drag race crashes" in youtube then you decide how much power you want to put down. 500 is the sweet spot (on Sharif's dyno ).

you arent driving 1000hp on the street anyways.....your sweet spot(~550) sounds more like the pump gas Daily drive tune for build vqs... not for max power... for that sky/budget is the limit.

i think he means the sweet spot as far as when more isn't necessarily better in anything other than a straight up drag car

Not trying to start anything brash in here but isn't this SP's 1000+HP thread, why all the {Nameless Shop} and or off topic talk about "dyno sweet spots" and such, this is simply put a grand accomplishment on SP's part! Enjoy and again congrats guy"Z"

"DON'T HATE, CONGRATULATE"

Mod for clean up in this thread and back to topic of SP 's accomplishment.

There is no hating going on. SP has already been congratulated. It's a great achievement without question.

This is true for most customers I think. A shop is definitely a different story. There is an opportunity to learn, explore new limits, push new technologies and parts, and demonstrate a shop's abilities to overcome significant challenges to reach lofty goals (be it high horsepower, a new turbo kit, a new manifold design, a new EMS etc). Kudos to the shops that put their blood, sweat, and tears into projects that help the entire Z/G35 community.
