So I'm potentially going to transfer out to KC for a new job ... moving from Delaware.
Anyway, what's the low down on inspection and emissions out there? It's pretty relaxed here in DE - as long as you pass the OBD-II scan, you're good. Just want to know what I'm up against in getting the twin turbo'd 350 tagged legally.
Oh yeah, any good tuners in the area or is my trek to Forged going to be that much further?
THanks!

Assuming you are going to be living in Kansas City, Mo I doubt you will have any problem. The only people in Missouri who have to have emission tests are those living in St Louis, St Louis County, St Charles County, Franklin County or Jefferson County. If you are going to Kansas City, KS, I don't have a clue.
Quote from the MO Dept of Revenue website:
Emissions Inspections
In addition to a safety inspection, if the vehicle is registered to operate in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, or Jefferson County, the vehicle is also subject to an emissions inspection (unless exempt as detailed below). The renewal notice you receive from the Department of Revenue will tell you if your vehicle needs to have an emissions inspection.
The inspection station will issue a Vehicle Inspection Report. Vehicle emissions inspections must be completed before registering the vehicle and should not be made more than 60 days prior to the date the owner submits an application for title and license or registration renewal.
The Missouri Department of Revenue does not operate the emissions inspection program. The Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program is administered by the Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Please check the Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program (leaving dor.mo.gov webspace) website for emissions testing locations and other information. St. Louis residents, who renew or register vehicles in September, please see the Department of Revenue August 2007 press release.
EXEMPTIONS:
The following vehicles are exempt from an emissions inspection:
Vehicles registered outside the area listed above;
End of Quote.

like stated, KC MO only has safety inspections--they do however do a visual inspection for emissions devices.
if you decide to live in KC KS the only inspection you have to do is a VIN insp when registering an out of state veh--KS does not have front plates either, MO does
there are a number of shops locally that do tuning. I would check out the House of Boost for tuning needs. as far as parts installs, i dunno, i do my own and don't really get into those discussions.
oh yeah, be sure to check out http://www.kczclub.com

Thanks guys, appreciate the input. As far as shops go, I'm going to stick with Forged (it's only an extra 70 miles or so) for tuning the car once I'm done installing everything.
Will also have to check out the local scene too - really looking forward to only being 60 miles away from Heartland Park though!!!!!!

I just recently moved to KC as well and failed the inspection. But I guess when you have absolutely no brake pad left on one of your pads and another pad is almost gone, they frown upon that. Simple fix, and I'm all good now. You should have no problems.

Re. inspections, Kansas City straddles the Kansas/Missouri border. For example, I can stand in my driveway in KC,MO. and look up the street into Kansas.
Missouri has safety inspections. They check things like cracked windshields, broken mirrors, worn brakes, working lights, leaking exhausts, etc.Only St. Louis and the counties mentioned also have emission testing.
The Kansas side does not require either.
HOWEVER!!!! it's been reported in the news that the EPA is crawling up KC, MO.'s a** about the air quality here and if we didn't do something about it they would force us to. I'm assuming any enforcement would affect both sides of the state line.
RE. tags, Missouri requires front and back tags for either regular or personalized. Kansas requires rear tags only for "regular" tags but were requiring front tags also for personalized plates. They may have repealed that law. Missouri at one time was making a push to repeal the front tag requirement but I haven't heard anything about it for some time.
