Performance Driving School
Hi!
I'm new here and to Z's for that matter. Already found some great resources on this forum so that's pretty neat.
One question: Has anyone attended or perhaps recommend a good performance driving school? I'm in florida so that would be a good region and ideally in central florida/tampa bay.
I'm not looking for a hardcore racing school, rather just one that emphasizes some track time, good technique, and core skills even for a novice.
Thanks!

This is a great place to learn for a day on the cheap.

I drive with them frequently and it's one of the best groups I've driven with for casual high performance driving.
$300. 5 on track sessions, with an instructor and free lunch. They drive Homestead and Palm Beach the most frequently.

Thank you for the suggestion!
I checked out their pages and this seems like a good group with a focus that seems similar to mine.
Now I'll have to find out if my auto, roadster is eligible

We are a couple hours south of Tampa in the Fort Myer's area. (The air filed is in Buckingham)
Our website is gulfcoastautocrossers.com.
Gulf coast is a fantastic organization too for autox. Very good people there.
As for road coursing, I don't believe you need an aftermarket roll bar for a convertible when driving in the beginning group but I believe the website addresses this issue.

Just curious if any I'd you have tried a group called hooked on driving? https://www.hookedondriving.com/home
driving a road is appealing. Any thoughts on the tracks available. Which one is best for a novice?
The autox sounds interesting and it is both affordable and close by. That saidi asked arounda bit and it seems you need to Put these big numbers on your car And I've seen many cars have their paint pulled off even with painters tape.

We have an event March 1st and 2nd. (About a week from now.)
I'll check the website when I get home.
I can say that we have not had anyone lose paint from the tape we provide. But if that's your primary worry, I can set you up with some magnetic numbers. -Just let me know.

Never been to Homestead but many of the guys I autocross with have and they say it's alright.
I have ran PBIR and it's a nice track.
Never ran Sebring's road course but I have heard that some of the corners have some bumps to watch out for.

I actually think "driving around cones" doesn't sound all that interesting in and of itself. It's difficult to convey just how fast/fun this sport can be:
Here is autocrossing from a couple unusual viewing angles:
First a really old video of my over-driving.
Practicing a single element: (Last pass is a bit surprising)

Hmm, magnetic numbers. .. Never seen them but easy to imagine. Do they work Better without Scratching things up?
Yeah cones might sound a little too much like drivers ed but it does strike me as quite technical, where having big hp isn't enough alone.
Those are neat videos and it does give you a different perspective. I can't make the event next week... traveling out of town, But I'd like to check out An event After that

Neither tape-on nor magnetic numbers hurt the car. I suppose if you dragged a number with sand on it down the paint it might do something, but someone would have to really want to mess stuff up.
I use magnetic numbers for convenience sake.
