Denver Grand Prix '06 meet?
Yep; it was a great race! Lots of passing (including for the lead), hometown boy wins with a solid drive, and more antics from PT. You would think at the end that he would have been satisfied with a podium after being spun at T1 on the first lap and storming back up through the field to third, but that would assume that a rational thought is even capable of entering his mind.
I'm not sure if they mentioned this on the broadcast or not, but Tracy's car was clearly having problems for the last 3 or 4 laps of the race. Entering T2 (near where I was sitting), you could hear and see that he had some sort of engine or gearbox problem, as he was not able to accelerate through the turn nearly as well as the other cars. He was obviously trying to limp it home and keep Seabass behind him, which is probably why he took that inside line down the backstraight on the final lap.
It will be interesting to see what Champ Car does with him after this.
Not to be outdone by all the Champ Car drama, the Speed World Challenge Touring Car race went on right after this, and they had the closest finish in series history. It was as close to a dead heat as anything I've ever seen. They're showing that race on tape delay next Saturday at noon on Speed...it's worth checking out. I won't ruin it here by revealing the winner.

I showed up on Friday.. Got to the track at about 12:00pm and stayed until about 5:30pm. I ran into a co-worker and neighbor of mine, but I was not able to find any of you Z guys. I watched the Champ Car qualifying from the front stands between turns 1 and 2. Sorry I missed you.
I missed almost all of the Sunday race, but I was able to get to the telivision (SPEED Channel) just in time to see the last few laps and the big bang finish. I was rooting for A.J, and I am glad he brought the win home.

Chris- Sorry you missed us on Friday. We were also in the grandstands in front of T1-2, but they are so large that it would be impossible to pick anyone out. Did you end up paying full price for the Friday ticket? I understand they were going for $13.
I agree, after looking around for you guys for a short time I realized that it would be a matter of luck running into you and not a matter of time spent looking, I guess my luck was just not there..
I got my ticket online just before leaving to go to the track for $9 ($8 + $1 service fee). Still not a bad price for 5 hours of entertainment.

James Davidson, Champ Atlantic Series. He was upside down for a good 4 or 5 minutes while the corner workers decided the best way to extract him. They finally rolled the car over and James exited the vehicle under his own power even though he looked quite rattled. You can't say enough about the safety equipment these days. - Joel

Joel- Great pics and sorry we missed you on Friday! Even spent some time poking around in the WC paddock (and everywhere else).
On another note, PT was asked after the race if he might be worried about any sanctions from his boneheaded move. His reply: "You gotta be kidding. With the Canadian races coming up (on the CC schedule)? Nah." Today, CC announced the penalty they were levying against Tracy: $25K and 3 points docked with probation continued for a few more races. Very disappointing on the part of Champ Car. I'm a supporter, but that sends the wrong message for a pro racing series that wants to upgrade their status.
