Well the Axxis came with the kit and I feel are great for the street/ daily driving use. I'd like something that can take a bit more beating for track only. I did go by the shop and try on the helmet, however didn't buy it. They said I could call and they would shipped it to me. I have the make and model on my desk at home.

I recommended Morten's Motorsports in Henderson and Leary Racing Products in Denver.

That's where I went, Morten's. I tried on and liked the Impact Super Sport S/S helmet. Cost is $349 and was told they will shipped it for me so I don't have drive all the way up there again. Cool people. Thanks David. :Thumbup2:

Ya know, I just love giving my money away as fast as I can Actually, it's just that I'm THAT excited about driving my car (it's been almost 2 months!).

Well right now all I have is the truck and the porsche is in the springs where a guy is getting it sold.

However, the owner of the north pole amusement park is going to test drive it once there is a bit less gravel on the road and will probably buy it and once it's sold theres a new car in the future, either a speed3, speed6, LGT or wrx.

Now i really doubt i'll be able to not only get the new car but also do some modifications so it can keep pace with a z in time for march 9, but the next track/instruction day i should hopefully be ready to go and i would definetly love to participate.

I think it would be pretty interesting to see a speed3 vs a Z on the track, I've heard people say that despite the FWD , speed3's with a good enough driver can hold pace with sti's and evos...

David,

I've got the same (and much larger) work issues that held me up before. I'll know more this week.

I never said i really believed it but i also didn't completely rule it out.

And actually i heard it on the other vehicles section of this site.

But all magazine reviews I've read seems to say it's got excelent handling despite fwd. I think a lot of it depends on the track and modifications. Obviously being turbo, it's easier to pull more power on the speed3 (which already can slightly pull on a z from a roll) but of course it's tought to say if the light weight and faster straight line(from a roll of course...) can make up for good old fashion rear wheel drive.

I'm not trying to say the speed3 is better by any means, just that it wouldn't be a boring match at all between the two(at least compared to a Z vs nearly any other hatch) It's looking like we might get 30 grand even for the porsche now plus the 5 grand i've saved up in the last 7 months I'm actually considering an evo IX, the only thing really holding me back is insurance and space.

anyway, sorry for going a little(... okay a lot) off topic. Just ignore my rambling haha

Can you guys recommend a hotel near the track and an effective set of brake pads for the OEM Brembos? I'm looking for a race pad that has good feel and initial bite but can also be installed the day before and driven to the event without chewing up the rotors. In the past I've used Carbotech XP-9 / XP-8 on a RX-8 and Wilwood E / Porterfield R4 on a Mazdaspeed MX-5 with good results.

This is the only mazda that anyone has seen and said could keep up with a Z. And it only equals. http://youtube.com/watch?v=O2emH4ihqMU

For Pueblo accomodations, some of us will be going down the night before and staying at the Wingate Inn. Be sure to tell them you're attending the Nissan Sport event at Pueblo Motorsports Park and they'll give you the corporate rate of $69.

From Brembo pad recommendations I like Cobalt Friction's GT-Sport compound. Broad temp range with medium bite and relatively easy on rotors. I use them all-year 'round, as well as track days! Be sure to make sure they have them in stock before purchasing online (cobaltfriction.com) since their stock has been low in the past.

Thanks for the info! Do you have any words of wisdom on bleeding the Brembos? The Wilwoods on my MX-5 were a major pain to bleed properly as compared to the OEM floating caliper. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

FYI - Cobalt Friction has recently changed their GT Sport compound and do not have pads in stock. They are trying to get a set to me by 3/7/07.

It looks like I can get the time off from work. So I'll plan on driving up from NM on Thursday evening. I should be able to get payment to you by next week.
