ok not trying to defend mazda or anything but...

1. That may be the only mazda to match a Z(yet) but i also don't believe theres been any real matchup of Z vs speed3.

2. On that same track a speed6 got like 2 seconds slower than a Z. Not only are speed6's heavier that speed3's but are also tuned down 20 or so horsepower in england so it's quite possible that a more powerful and MUCH lighter mazda3(though fwd) could make up those two seconds.

but as i said before... still hoping for that evo instead...

Kaiser... Not to be rude but this isn't the thread to be discussing this. This thread is for serious Z/G owners interested in attending the PMI Safety Class & Track day. Please post only inregards to attending this event. THANKS!!!

Also... Can someone give me some feedback on the FERODO DS3000 brake pads. Received my quote today:
2003 NISSAN 350Z - Non-Track Model (front) FERODO DS3000 RACING BRAKE PADS $177/set. Yay or nay??? Thanks!!!

Robert- I've tried the DS2500 pad on my track model and found it to be a good, intermediate pad compound (like the GT-Sport). My concern with the DS3000 (which I haven't sampled) is that the operating range might be too high for the cool temps we'll be facing at PMI. Also, a full-on race compound usually has a lot of initial bite and the coefficient of friction is so high that it takes awhile to adapt your braking technique to it.

They're pretty proud of those Ferodos, aren't they? I think you might want to keep shopping and consider a intermediate compound pad at a lower price point for your first school. Just my $0.02.

Payment has been sent out today so please add my name to the list.

So what is required for safety equipment? Some of the clubs vary wildly on this point and I just wanted to check.

Tech inspection (self, club, mechanic)
Seat belts (OEM, harness)
Helmet (any, SA2000)
Clothing (doesn't matter, cotton long sleeve shirt / pants, Nomex?)
Eye protection (none, glasses, face shield)
Roll bar (none, harness bar, 4pt roll bar, full roll cage)
Corner workers (none, participants, dedicated)

Alrighty guys... Need some help. Where can I order the Cobalt GT pads?
Also any other suggestions to go with my StopTech OEM kit? I don't want to destroy my slotted rotors.
Will what EBC did you suggest?

I'm using the EBC RedStuff Ceramic. Again, it's not a track pad, but it is friendly to the rotors when cold and I think it will hold up better than Hawk HPS or Axxis Ultimates. I expect my all season tires to get greasy before these pads start to fade. I have used them many times before, and except for extended lapping for competition, they have held up well, but have very short life span. I get maybe three track days from them.
The Cobalt GT sport pads I think are an equivalent pad, but I have had horrible issues getting them. Either they are out of stock, or no one bothers to return my calls. David M swears by them, so you know they're good if you can get them in time.

I got a hold of Cobalt and can have them shipped on the 21st. However the EBC are a bit less expensive.

So what are they charging you for the pads?

They told me $145 front and $105 rear for the OEM Brembos.

Go with the Cobalts. Just make sure that they hit their promised shipment date (they've been known to miss shipment dates in the past).

I was told $175 for the GT Sport non-Brembo fronts. Looks like I'm gonna have to look into this.

Regarding the Cobolts...

This may only apply to the Brembo folks - theres a fitment issue with the front pads. The metal backing plate is about 1/16" too big. I had to grind the corners down with a file to get them to work. I've also seen posts on this forum regarding this issue. and was going to mention this to them when I place my next order.

If it helps, they have (or at least they used to have) a my350z.com discount of somewhere between 5% and 15%. Good luck.

I've got a 4+ hour drive to get to Pueblo. So I'll be heading out on Thursday and staying the night before the event. Is anyone else doing the same thing?
