Your common sense and examples of horrific deaths will not sway my decision! I'm just not willing to pay a premium on a "new" 06 that they can't move off the lot. Going 2nd hand will save me almost 10k and I can't argue with that. Just a matter of finding the right color, as options won't mean much in the long run.

I personally will not give my business to Morten's cause of an arguement the owner & I had on another forum. However I do recommend to try on helmets before making a purchase.

I purchased a new helmet earlier this year as my previous one was too old (Snell 95). I wanted a safe helmet (obviously), but as I only wear it a few times a year, didn't want to spend too much. I also wanted to try it on before buying (hence no internet purchase). In the end I found that On Track Performance at 3044 S. Platte River in Denver carries G-Force and actually had a selection in stock that I could try on. Pricing was pretty close to list, so no deals, but at least they had several in stock so I could find the right size. In the end I switched to a closed face unit (my car doesn't have air bags) and to a different size as well (I'm right between a L and XL so the right size varies by brand). Price was a bit over $250 IIRC.

I'm not trying to give them a glowing recommendation, but they had a range of choices at reasonable prices. That's more than most stores which were willing to order one for me, if I knew what I wanted in advance.

 

Thanks for the info!!! I drove to Morten's from Fountain (S. of the Springs) and tried on my helmet there. I orignally planned to order from them but found it cheaper online. I asked them to match the online price and I would buy it. Morten's got upset that I "used" them to try a product & purchase from another company. Anyhow, long story short, I save almost $100 from buying online. Its good to know there is another local store to purchase from. For driver about to purchase a new helmet please try it on before buying. Helmets are like shoes. One brand fits different from another.

I'll offer up my garage the day prior, but two problems:

1. I am down in Colorado Springs, for you Denver guys, it's a drive.

2. I won't know until early September if I get the day prior to the event off.

This is my first time going. What do I need to do as far as maintenance?

 

How do your brake pads and rotors look? When's the last time the fluid was flushed? All those little things you might not think about every day.

 

Fresh oil, as well, unless you have recently changed it.
