I'll definitely be sure to avoid getting near anyone!

I'm really hoping that I'll be able to make this one.

A day like this will give you more track time than you can get at practically any other type of event. It'll definitely be a good time.
a 996 rolled 3 1/2 times at turn one yesterday during a PCA event. Apparently he hit a rail road tie just off track. I guess the same guy went off a few times throughout the day and didn't take some ones advice about working on his lines instead of speed. He was fine but car was toast.
One guy also didn't think a japanese car would have faired as well in an accident like that.

I was at that PCA event - didn't see him go off, but saw the car afterwards. Actually, for a car that rolled 3 times it didn't look as bad as you might expect. But it's got a lot of damage. Nothing was straight anymore.
Interesting that none of the airbags deployed, not even the side impact ones.
He was on the track when we arrived (session before the accident) and so we had to wait to enter. They had us stopped at the gate near the exit of turn 8. We saw him do triple tank slapper coming out of 8 ending in a complete 360+ spin off the track. Apparently he had also had a few big moments going into 1 prior to finally going off. While I certainly wouldn't wish his misfortune on anyone, he had LOTS of warnings.
BTW, I'm still up for the open test day. Watching all those guys have fun left me feeling a little left out. I need a speed fix

Well, as the saying goes, don't take anything to the track that you aren't willing to drive off a cliff. However, unless you are in a race for money, or are independently wealthy, don't drive at 999/1000. If you are just out there for fun, drive at 8/10 or 9/10 if you are brave.

Robert, I think you're dead on: there was a guy who works at a Porsche dealership who estimated the damage north of $30k.
When I looked at the hood and headlights up close, nothing was straight anymore. All the gaps were uneven and nothing was flush. I doubt it will be totaled, but it will be in the shop for a long time.

Wow, that Porsche sure looks good for a car that's rolled multiple times.
It's unfair of me to judge without having been there or knowing anything about the driver, but I tend to agree with others' comments that it sounds like the driver in this case might have been pushing a little over his head, and not heeded the warning signs.

David (or anyone else that knows)
PMP should have all of our names on their list as being certified for open track days there. Do we need to reserve or pay ahead of time, or anything? And is the cost $100, or did I miss something?

I sent an email tonight to Earlene to confirm that I'm on the list. Hopefully I'll hear back soon.
Also, looks like the fee is $100 with the following schedule:
7 am facility opens
8 am track goes hot
4 pm everyone off the track
5 pm facility closes

Still on the way back to Colorado when I saw this. Yes, all the graduates of the Nissan Sport spring safety class had their names transmitted to the track. Earlene has the list and you'll need to pay the $100 track day fee when you arrive that day.
It's a good idea to use the PMP website and e-mail her that you're definite for that particular day.
