-Brakes; Plenty of pad and rotor. Might consider a race compound pad
-Fluids; Fresh engine oil and brake fluid. Might consider upgrading to a higher boiling point brake fluid. Also might consider replacing your transmission fluid.
Those are the three main things I can recommend off the top of my head. If you read through previous events you can find out a lot more.

Most of us change our fluids the weekend before the event. However those switching to race pads do it the day before since the car will be on jack stands than. I'll most likely change all my fluids the week I arrive home (Sept 15) since my car has sat for so long. I'll do a quick swap & bedding of the pads the Thursday before the event.
I suggest trying to get a basic maintenace day set-up at someone home. This way several people can get their car ready at once. Also this teaches new owners/drivers how to do basic maintence on there car.
Other advice is to put brand new race pads in the day before and not day of. The last thing you want to do is start bedding your pads at the track. Gets compounded since the very first session you will have as a new racer is ABS practice which hits your brakes really really hard.
Just to clarify for 350ZMPH's benefit, the timing of when you bleed your brakes should be done when it's most convenient for you, even if it's a week or so before the event. The amount of moisture absorbed by a healthy brake system over that brief period between bleeding and driving on the track is so small that you don't have to worry about it.
In other words, a few days doesn't matter.

My apologys guys but, I want to make sure I do these thing right.
I do have new Rotora BBK installed about 2 months ago. Do I still change my pads for racing pads? and upgrade the brake oil?
If I have to do the oil changes here is what Gresse Monkeys is charging me $69 for synthetic oil barkes and $79 for transmission, Its that good? Also how much $$$ for the racing pads, more less? I just want to have an idea.
Depends what pads it came with, but most likely, you will want a set of racing pads.
I've got a Stoptech BBK, and I have a set of racing pads (Performance Facttory PF-01 fronts, and Hawk DTC-60 rears, and a set of normal pads for every day driving.) The racing pads make a huge difference in the amount of heat they can absorb, and trust me, at PMI, you will build up a good bit of heat in your brakes!

Guys, I have some bad news. I talked with PMP about our September 28th date and was told that since Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR) has the track for that weekend (9/29-30/07), they could no longer grant an exclusive for that Friday. They claimed this was overlooked when I originally requested an exclusive on the track. When I protested, they mentioned that other driving schools have held their safety schools during open track days.
I told them I would not compromise the safety of any participant in any event I was leading. I explained that our driving exercises utilize part of the track and cannot be done while the track is "hot". The reply was that this was a misunderstanding and that September 28th would be an open track day, with either RMVR members or anyone who had previously passed the safety class paying the $100/driver track fee for the day.
I apologize that we cannot put on a Nissan/Infiniti safety class that day. If anyone who has already been through the Nissan Sport safety class wants to still go on 9/28, I'd be happy to join them for an open track day. Depending on how many people show up, they may separate cars up into different groups with limited or open passing rules. Remember what we learned about passing and being passed (safely) during the class. With Robert K's time back in Colorado is limited, I know he'll still be interested!
One final topic is for those Z or G pilots who remain interested in attending the PMP Safety class. I asked for and received an alternate date only four days afterwards (Tues, Oct 2nd) for an exclusive on the track. I'll put up a separate thread this weekend giving details and asking if interest still remains in conducting that class.

Wow... Talk about a kill joy.
Well I'll be home Sept 16 - Sept 30. However I'll be in Vegas Sept 20 -Sept 24. David, I don't know if you could work in some other date there. Really like to have an exclusive Z/G day. I'll keep an open mind about the open track day.
Sorry to those that were getting ready for their frist HPDE.

Wow, what a disappointment. I am glad I didn't ask for vacation yet. Otherwise, that would have screwed me over. Thanks giving us the heads up. I would love to attend the class still, but sadly, I can't make it on a Tuesday since I live in Grand Junction. At least, I can't make it for a safety day only. If it was a safety and track day, then I would go ahead and take off that Monday-Wednesday.

Perhaps we should see how many in this group are still interested in attending the 9/28 open track day. Again, track requirements are that you need to have attended the PMP safety class to be able to register, or hold a SCCA, NASA or other racing license.

I understand that track time is becoming more and more scarce so these things are going to happen. While an open track day is not as appealing as an exclusive day for just us, I'd probably still come down for it on 9/28. There are so few opportunities to get on a track that I hate to pass anything up.
Of course, if there is a way to do a Z day on another day, my schedule willing, I'll be there!

After a month since the first of the donation packets went out and the web site being up. There has been $100k collected from 122 people. They are still $400-600k short of where they would like to be to start the track.

Awhile back, I asked if anyone else wanted to join me in making a collective contribution to the fund, but didn't get much response. I went ahead and made my contribution, so as one of the 122 on record, I hope others will still consider this. Construction needs to start THIS YEAR, if we're going to have options in 2008 and beyond!

Thanks Will.
