Warning for modded Z - deadly shooting at a street race
Although Z's were not involved in the race or shooting, we can get targeted. I have a separate post about myself getting pulled over for no plate, but what the cop said about illegal street racing is on the rise. I can expect a efw of us modded Z's especially the young driver will be targeted. just be cautios out there.

MIRA LOMA -- Police say an exchange of dirty looks may have caused a deadly shooting at a street race.
It happened on Sunday on Philadelphia Avenue, a street in Mira Loma in Riverside County that's known for street racing.
Three teens were sitting in a car when the suspects allegedly jumped out of the bushes and fired at them.
Pedro Loya, 18, was shot in the head. He died within minutes at the scene.
His girlfriend, Amber Ponce, 19, was wounded in the shoulder, arm and leg but will survive.
Pedro's brother Frank had gone with his older brother to watch the races. He was not hurt, but was in the car when the shotting occurred.
Family members say Pedro had hoped to be a school counselor.

Thats sad...I'm not going to lie I used to go to the runs a lot in my last car and the one before that. I mean with all the track closings theres not even a place to run a 1/4 mile anywhere in SD County Now the only 1/8 mile track is getting ready to go away. If they want us to stay off the street they have to give us a place to race.
wow, i was just out there last weekend. I will NEVER EVER return to that place again. They meet up at a place called Sub Zero and then from there they head on over to the raceing site. Whats so ****ed up about the whole thing is that the cops roll through the parking lot and I swear there is about 100-150 cars and they dont do anything. As long as we are stationary they will not touch you. But the reason they roll through to begin with is because someone is doing burnouts in the parking lot and some one calls the cops and fire department to go check out the smoke. The cops know whats going on but they do nothing. Again, I will never go there again.
Most police officers will stop someone because of other peoples mistakes. I wish people mature up and stop all the street racing. That is why i joined Racers against street racing.

Gangs or drugs.
Losing a race isn't worth shooting someone over ... gangs and drugs (huge profits) are.
Be careful. I had a female co-worker fight off an attempted carjacking for her new 300 Magnum in broad day light in the middle of a very busy parking lot.

I definitely agree that racing needs to be kep off of the streets. However, in CA what the heck is going on? Carlsbad closed, Pomona Closed (for weekend racers), Palmdale?, Terminal Island closed.... Only track left is Irwindale and that crappy track is 1/8 mile

At least you guys have tracks. They're selling/closing the only good road course in MN soon. Closest thing to me is an oval track for rednecks who like to use their car to run off imports.
I'm not really into drag racing, either. I used to live in SD and would go to those cruises, but only to watch. Never got involved in anything. Sad...what a shame that these 'kids' think cars and looks rule their world.

Palmdale is very much alive. They have groups like Corvette Challenge, Pontiac Drag Days, Club Grand National that go so we should organize something like that. Until I get the right brakes, this is the only kind of track I dare run.
California Speedway is a 1/4 mile strip. I think there is one comming up on May 14th.
I think its smart for politicians to close tracks since the state gets more money busting illegal street races than operating a track.
Since I drive a stock Z, I guess I should be safe from random shootings.

I only race at the tracks period. But not many options out there
Irwindale is the best track I know but unfortunately only 1/8 and way too busy
LACR Sucks *** and is way too far, but at least they have at least two nights a week open and for that they need to be supported.
Cali Speddway is horrible, they went from once a week two maybe once a month and they let pro's drive over and over which usually ends up closing the track for oil downs
Bottomline they need to open more tracks and not close them because people will race
