Help with a ticket...

She gave me the officer's voicemail number if I wanted to speak to him about that. She said if it's a non-correctable violation, I am just required to pay the ticket/fine. Should I even bother contacting this officer? I'll fight this exhaust violation in court if I have to. I didn't break any CA exhaust laws. Here is 27151CVC for anyone who hasn't read it yet:

It's basically telling me I can leave it on my car, and just pay the fine. Which is what one of my friends did a while back, but he didn't really want to bother with the fighting process, etc. I'm definitely not going to pay anything for a part on my car that I know is completely CA legal.
Update: So basically I've decided to fight this ticket for both violations. I figure it's not going to cost me anything to try to delay/fight it, might as well. I'm using www.helpigotaticket.com and the site seems pretty knowledgable. I'm confused a bit about the whole part where the big date marked on the front of your ticket means. Does this mean I really have to go to court? I've read on ticket assassin that the best way to fight tickets is to request trial by written declaration, where you do everything by mail, and never have to go to court, even on that big bold date on the front of the ticket. What should I do?
