It is on quite often with re-runs. I think there has been five episodes. My DVR can not tell the difference between a new episode and the re-run The last two were the best. One was with a CGT drifting, and the last was exotics and low riders together.

Cool show... I say we get a collection going so the CHP will block off Mulholland for us!

I'd love to be able to run mulholland on a closed course. Didn't watch the entire vids yet, but some of the timed sections covered some of my favorite portions of Mulholland.

From what I've been told, they use to have actual racing on these roads back in the day, maybe the 70s or early 80s. They would basically close the roads on their own and hold races for money. Malibu has some great roads, but sadly, many parts of mulholland cannot be driven at speed without worry of police patrols.

Malibu canyons are heavily patrolled by LE. It appears that Malibu roads have higher fines for traffic violations.

Source = www.lateralg.com Speeding ticket fines are based on pre-set prices of the governing agency(s) you were caught in, not the speed you were going. For example, the ticket I got for 20mph+ over the limit in Riverside County was considerably cheaper than would be a ticket in Malibu for 5mph over the limit.

Highway Patrol Sets Its ‘Cites’ on Malibu Mountain Road Safety

Area Commander Forms Specialized Team to End Traffic Woes on the ‘Malibu Le Mans’

BY ANNE SOBLE

The Jabel Hafeet Mountain Road in the United Arab Emirates may rank higher, as does the Nürburgring Nordschleife (The Ring) in Germany, but for many aficionados of the cult of the speedometer, there are few American roads that are designed for canyon runs like Mulholland Highway as it wends its way through the Santa Monica Mountains to the beach at Leo Carrillo State Park.

The so-called canyon carvers, those who drive down mountain roads as fast as they can for the pleasure of it, extol Mulholland’s speedometer quotient on motorcycle and racing Internet sites with adjectives usually reserved for more intimate activities. It’s the Malibu version of the now outlawed Targa Florio.

But if the California Highway Patrol West Valley Area crew has its way, the days of local road rapture are drawing to a close. The new WVA commander has gone on record as implementing a zero tolerance policy with regard to speeding, illegal passing and other traffic violations.

^This is sadly nothing new. At the time that article was written, summer of '07, they were having a large crackdown, but at the same time it was largely publicized so you could avoid the area. And prior to that, they had operation safe canyons in 2005. It comes in waves and though it may never go away, it does calm down after awhile.

Like anywhere else, Malibu has areas that receive more patrols and speed traps, you just need to avoid these areas or mind your speed if you drive through. I drive these canyons from time to time and if you pick your time and place, you can very much enjoy these roads.

Oh and those photos are from the top of Stunt Rd. and a section of mulholland that is common stop.

It probably is more expensive, but I got a ticket in Malibu on PCH maybe two years ago. (The speed traps right after the 10.)

I got ticketed for 60 in a 45 and the ticket came out to something like ~$115, including traffic school. I was rather surprised at how cheap it was.
