[Begin useless post]

Don't call me a Ricky Martin, but man, I love those new VW GTI's! I test drove one on Sat. and those things kick @ss. Feels faster than my Z, although it's not. Gotta love those commercials too..."sometimes MY FAST does not get along with MY GIRLFRIEND..." (hope I quoted that right). whatever, absolutely classic!

Oh, I was reminded why I hate American cars when the dealer also let me test drive a Chevy Cobalt SS just for shiggles.

although i didn't drive one, i measured one for wheels last week and it looks pretty nice. it seems like it is put together pretty well too, but you never can trust a vw.

I know, it's so true.

Apparently, the superior Aryan German wunderkinds can't keep a transmission lasting longer than 2,000 miles. Sometimes white just ain't right.

But damn, that GTI is purty...

btw, no offense. I love white people (especially the girls). peace.

I forgot to mention that I was shopping around for a car for my dad, although if I had the money for a good beater, the GTI would definately fit the bill.

I pretty much decided that if I'm not going to get married by the time I'm 30, I'm going to go buy a Twin Turbo Supra with 900,000,000 whp on stock internals.

Thanks to Chad's little excursion down Genesee, my car doesn't feel fast anymore....damn you Chad!

Speaking of Supras', words of wisdom from the Supra forum:

"Another important Supra rule: Big rear wings, stickers, decals, neons, stick on dash kits, and stupid @ss body kits are a sure sign of gayness. If you like any of these items, buy a 240SX or an Eclipse"

How did you drive it though? I went the the Chevy drive event up here by Irvine and took the Cobalt SS Supercharged for a spin around the performance track. Maybe it was because I was driving it like I stole it, or because I was almost redlining the whole time, or maybe just because I've never driven on a little track like that before, but I thought it was pretty fun for a 20K car. Of course the whole time I'm thinking, "God, I gotta get my Z on this track" haha. I also test drove the new Honda Civic Si on the same track. I actually liked the Cobalt better.

Yeah we drove it at the SD Event too. Lots of Tq but a perfect example of why FWD power delivery is so hard. Nothing but roasted tires.

you are thinking of the saturn ion redline. the cobalt was actually really good on that track. i'm sure the pirelli rosso's didn't hurt.

Oh yeah that was it. I'm sure the tires did make a difference. But you have to admit if that car was RWD and the same weight and power (think 240SX) it would have been much better.

Rob,

How do you think the G would ride on those Hotchkis and stock shocks? Or did you get rid of them already? I'll be in Cincinnati this week, but if you still have them, I'd be interested in them next week.

Later,

Ray

you could tell the guy in florida to f-off, if ray is really serious. it would save you the effort of shipping them.
