Question Jason or Jeff, how much of a mobile 1 oil change?

Probably need an oil change in a month or so. How much is it for an oil change with mobile 1?

How long is the wait usually for an oil change?

i think Durablen Valvoline was like $29
"full" Valvoline Synthetic (Group III) is like $15-20 more.

Jeff; I see by my maintenance guide that on a schedule 1 the oil is changed every 3,750 mi. and on the schedule 2 every 7,500 mi..
I take it that this is if you were using regular petroleum oil. Since synthetic should have a longer service life do you think a change of Mobil 1 every 5,000 mi would be a good schedule to follow. I fit the schedule 2 profile.

Oil changes are a strange subject around here. I've just retired one of my shop trucks with close to 300K on the odometer.... and the odo's been broken for a year! The truck (hardbody) still ran strong. Went through 4 rear ends and 3 tranny's but never touched the engine. It wasn't uncommon to change the oil around 15K to 25K, since we would never remember! Also my drivers and I beat the hell out of my shop trucks.... so I don't really have an answer when it comes to oil changes. My shop trucks ran what ever came out of the pump... nothing special. With synthetic, I would say you can double the standard in the book. BUT, that's me. My engine is apart so much that it get's done with a synthetic blend every couple hundred miles...

I say it depends on driving habits, heat, and the condition of your last oilchange.

My Z tends to burn about 1 qt per oilchange at 3500 miles, so I change it around then. I guess I could just add some and go to 4500, but it's summer and I just started tracking the car so I'll stick to 3000-3500.

Default Bring your own Mobil 1

I usually have good things to say about Performance Nissan, but not on this subject. They tried to charge me nearly $20 per QUART for Mobil 1 syn!!!!! I screamed bloody murder and they lowered the price to $11.50 per Quart (still outrageous), plus cost of filter and labor.

You can buy Mobil 1 at many Mobil stations for $6 per quart, $7 at the most. Bring your own oil to Performance Nissan.

Just left Performance with the Twisted Z II Brought my own Mobile I from Sam's Club $22.88 for 6 quarts. Performance provided the filter and changed to oil, fill the tires and I was out in 30 min for less than a $20.00 bill. The Twisted Z and Twisted Z II are Happy campers.

Default Apology accepted

Jeff -

You can credit me the difference in price of Mobil 1 on my next service visit. I had a weird problem with the clutch pedal on my Tilton system, my last time out at Big Willow. Jason was there and he knows about it, but the pedal did not malfunction when he got in my Z and depressed it. I want this sorted out before my next track day -- Road Course at California Speedway June 25. Waahhhhoooooo!!!!

See you sometime the week of June 14.
