Default Have some questions about adding bolt-on exhaust pieces...input appreciated!!!

Alright, well right now I have a pretty much bone stock 2006 350z, besides the exterior. I currently have the stock exhaust system as well. I was thinking about adding aftermarket headers, downpipes and y-pipe. I'm thinking this will be a nice little upgrade with all of these exhaust bolt-ons. So just wondering what my fellow Z owners felt about adding these pieces?

I have heard good things about adding headers, so I figured I would buy the other two things while I was at it. The next mod will be the rest of the exhaust, but I don't have that much cash right now. So I know with me adding these exhaust pieces my Z will have a much different sound, I'm assuming. With my stock "restrictive" exhaust, I'm not expecting a huge gain in power, just looking for a little more pep and sound...so give me ya'lls .02 cents...

You're question isn't very clear. You want to know what other Z owners think about exhaust? Well... Umm.. I love it. Love it so much infact, i bought two of them. Dual 3"ers for me!

My question is about me adding on headers, downpipes and y-pipe to my Z....asking what ya'll think I will gain, how will these bolt-ons help me out, will they help me out since I have the stock exhaust, etc....I'm sure they will help me out since it is more air, etc...but just wondering.....

So what do ya'll think about adding these 3 mods as my first mods...

if you plan on going NA go for the headers.. if you want more then 400 hp dont... because that means turbo.. and thus headers = waste of money

Well at this time I don't plan on getting a turbo or anything like that...too much money...really just trying to get a few bolt-ons and little things to just give me a little more HP and sound...maybe later down the road I might invest in a turbo, but that is a few years down the road...so I think buying these headers will be okay...

Any more comments? Anyone have headers, downpipes, and y-pipe and want to tell me there experiences with them?

hmmm. friend of mine put headers, exhaust and intake before he supercharged his Z and the bolt on really improved his performance but not dramatically. i really think you need to consider purchasing an exhaust to begin and then get the headers, intake and maybe a plenum spacer. those mods will help. getting it tuned will also help. but think it over. exhaust is gonna be around 500-1000, headers-300ish, intake-100+, spacer-300, i would estimate a total of 10-15hp gain. with a tune you may get more but then you got to buy the EM to tune.

Installing headers on a 350Z is a PITA!!! Unless of course you have noodle arms. In my opinion, the gains are not worth the extra work involved in installing them. I would get the exhaust first.

+1 on the headers installed. a shop will rape you on the price due to the difficulty. Get the exhaust first and the intake and plenum spacer. youll be happy. the spacer IMO gives the best gains.

+1 on the exhaust and intake. Depending upon what year your Z is, the best mod to money ratio IMO is a spacer + MREVII.

That buddy may not be a buddy after the header install

Yeah those headers are a tough install but you'll love them and think they were worth it. Definately exhaust then intake, HF cats then headers
