Default HOUSTON-CAR ALARMS

hello everyone,
its has been brought to my attention that I need a car alarm for my ride. I was home taking a shower after a long days work around 1:00am when a get a call. "WTF? who would call me at this hour?" i thought. I answered and it was my neighbor who immediately told me to LOOK at my car now! some guy was trying to my mess with my passenger side door! I instantly dashed for the front and as I flung the front door open I saw the dude hauling, jump into a waiting car and fled off. 3 dudes in a nissan sentra could see the plates from the angle they drove away. I dont know what tipped him off or perhaps he got scared but im not taking chances, I already put a newer bigger spot light over the driveway w motion sensors.
I was wondering if you guys here in houston could recommend any alarms you guys have.
Also would you guys be able to recommend a shop that would install it and do a great job without tearing up my interior.
Watch your rides! -Blackheart

go old skool. take your screen off your living room window. get you a ruger kp89 for $299. buy a box of 9mm shells for $25. for $326 you got lotsa fun and a good alarm system. once some jak-arze teen has been shot at w/9mm he won't be back for your shiite again. just be sure he's on your property when you go clik, clik.

Where did you end up having yours done? What did you think about their work?

I'm moving into an apartment off 610/290 and am concerned that the easy access from the freeway will attract a bad source of people. The Z will be in a private parking garage but it's not difficult to get access by following a resident in. I don't really keep anything in the car and the stereo is stock but I'm afraid someone might break in hoping theres an ipod or radar detector in the dash to steal(am I being paranoid?). So I'm highly considering a 2-way alarm, maybe compustar or viper.

Does anyone in Houston have recommendations on a reputable local shop that can do the job? What system did you get? How much did you pay?. I had my tint done at Executive Motoring but this is not an inexpensive installation so I want to know that they do good quality work. I've searched threads but not much info on Houston alarm installers, please help!

I have the Clifford 12.5 Matrix installed by Car Toys. However an alarm is just a deterence and does not insure you're car won't get broken into/stolen.

Info: http://www.clifford.com/Products/Pro...?ProductID=705 Also added the window module that rolls up the windows when I arm the alarm and two bright blue LEDs to help deter thieves as well.

Of course the alarm is just a deterrence, I'd rather be proactive than be sorry that I didn't do something. Anyone know of a good shop other than CarToys or BestBuy that does a good job installing/hiding an alarm? If I'm gonna pay money for an installation I'd rather pay someone who knows what their doing not some big box store thats only interested in selling me a product.

I got my Viper 2 way installed by Rafiq and his guys at Kustom Kar Stereos, he also did my Pioneer AVH-4000. Both for $800 walk out, total (including the video safety overide, install kit). His installer made the car appear as if it had left Nissan with the components installed. No squeaks, rattles, humms or anything and everything works flawlessly.

He's between shops right now but has an "office/showroom" at Traders Village on the weekends, which isn't far from 290/610. His shop is to the left on the second row if you come in the main middle entrance.

He also did my wife's AVIC and Viper 2 way for about 30% off of retail and gave her a bunch of extras for free (video safety over ride, mounting kit, remote). She had her truck broken into a couple of months after she bought it and the bastards tried to pry the AVIC out with a screwdriver (the viper pager did go off and warn her that the door had been opened. She grabbed her HK and went out to see what was what but the guys were gone). Rafiq (the owner) swapped her AVIC out that weekend for a new one, free of charge, even though it was physically damaged. Hell of a guy.

They are good guys who stand behind their work and products. Normally I wouldn't trust a guy at Trader's Village but, I have to admit, they treated well and fairly and did some beautiful install work.

Check out StereoEfx on I-45 North. They did a remote start / 2 way page install on my GFs car a few weeks ago (compustar) for about $269.
