So the sage continues...

Car ran for about 20 miles and the poor performance came back. rough idle and bad acceleration. This time a SES light came on. The code is p301 which is a misfire in cylinder 1.

My original code of 327 has not came back so maybe I fixed that, but it didnt solve the misfire. Going to check plugs and coilpacks this afternoon.

Hopefully it's just a spark plug. I've had spark plug issues on other vehicles that had me tearing other stuff apart. The whole time it was a stupid plug.

 

Easy way to check is to swap ign. coil from cylinder 1 with coil from another cylinder and see if misfire shows up in cylinder that you switched it with...

 

So I pulled the coil and plug and checked for spark. no good.
Pulled a second coil and tested it with the same plug. tested good.
Put the good coil and plug on the number 1 connector and it was good.

So replaced the coil pack. Runs smooth again, so far 25 miles.

So a friend of a friend claims to have "killed a boosted fully built 350z" out at mineral Wells in his 5.0 mustang at autox. And said he can corner better than Z's no doubt while his car is fully stock. How in the hell? I have respect for these cars but that's a long shot -____- too much mustang pride has gotten to his head. One of you experienced drivers needs to put an end to this.

 

Talk is cheap. What event and when? All the autocross clubs post their results. Lets see some real numbers and then discuss.

 

Yeah I doubt that when we went to cresson with Jake and Chris there was instructor that was driving new 5.0 that he rented was getting beat by miatas and al the other cars especially around turns... And this guy knew how to drive to. So I think your friend is full of sh*t
