Travis, my spring rates on the Tein H techs are 6.4 Frt & 6.7 Rear.
I can't wait to have you out on the track with us....your a cool dude and I know you will tear it up when your get out there.
okay so the first site i looked at for my spring rate was wrong, mine are 6.9 front and 7.2 rear. i cant wait to get out there and run, getting my tune friday!!
AllstarE4, so i thought about what you said with the shoulder of the tire and the fender gap.. that is why i think it looks like i have such a fender gap now. when i got my battles (1 inch wider) i just threw on the tires i had on my stock wheels so they are stretched a little. with that being said i am nixing the thought of spring swap until i burn up my tires and get wider ones
^good idea you don't want
Too much stretch if
Your gonna be cornering hard. It
Is possible to break the bead
Loose from rim. Doubt
It
Will happen but it's a possibility with a stretched
Tire
Travis I don't think you have that much of a stretch. What are the widths and offsets of your wheels? You could run a spacer and it will take care of alot of it. What size tires are you running?

fronts are 9 +30, rear 9.5 +22. tires are Ventus V12 225/45 on front and 245/45 (think on profile not positive). on the stock wheels they were squared up and i bet that is why i think the gap is more now
Damn you must have let discount tire tell you what sizes to buy. We all run 9.5 +15 but discount tire will try to tell you that size won't fit.
negative ghost rider, i wanted to keep the staggered wheel size (weird like that) and in the 9 inch the lowest offset is +30 and on the 9.5 they dont make the battles in +15 anymore... and on the tires they werent that wore out yet and they were on the car when i bought it
** and if i do decide to square up the rims, i can just go buy 2 of them later on identical to the back

Are those 18" rims ? with a 45 for the aspect ratio ? I would run a 40 at most.

18 is correct, and like i said those are the tires that were on the car when i bought it..... tires on on my hit list but low priority since they arent that bad

What are you talking about Chris? You ran a 40 series on a 19".
Travis a 45 series is fine for an 18" if you aren't low. However, when those tires run out and you keep the 18x9 and 18x9.5 combo I would run a 245/40 and 275/40 combo.
Also, a 9.5 +22 is damn good for the front. I'm running a 9.5 +20 and its just fine. With street camber specs it fits beautifully. With track camber specs it would be perfect if it were a +15.
yeah i didnt know if i would like the squared setup and went the safe route.... not complaining with the way it looks now, pretty damn happy. later on i could sell off the 9's get get the 9.5. i have spent so much money on the car in the last 10 months after the tune and shock going to slow down and build up the bank account some...
After the tune and suspension you won't need anything really. You can still have fun at autoX with the tires you have now and just buy a good set next year.

i might end up keeping the s-tech, found the correct rates 6.9 front and 7.2 rear... thinking with new shocks i should be good

Yes Eric, when I had my Volks that were 19" I ran 275/40/19's on the rear and 245/40/19's on the fronts....since I have those H-techs without a huge drop I could use the extra sidewall to fill the Gap....plus back then I Drive the Z more to work so i wanted a softer ride that a 35 aspect ratio sidewall.
Here is an old pic with the Volks and 40 series on them.

The only other thing that you could do fairly cheap is get some Sways...unless you already have them. With Sways, shocks and a tune...you'll be good to go for an event. Then just save up for some track tires.

Ya I recently switched to 40 series (on an 18" wheel) and it is so much more comfortable on the street. I also ran the autoX day with them and did OK. Next year's track tires will be the 35 series R-S3 like you guys are running.
