Fithamoto and I just finished the BMW DE out at Cresson. We are both on EBC Blue Stuff and they worked great. Chris has brembos and I have the 06 two piston calipers on my 03. It was 90 degrees and some nice high speed brake zones from about 100mph and no issues what so ever.

I had HPS in my 03 calipers and they couldnt hold up out at mineral wells. The 03 calipers aren't big enough if you have grippy tires (RS3 or better). I found some 06 calipers at the junkyard for 75 bucks, two new cheap rotors for 90 bucks a rebuild kit for 15 and the EBC blues were like 150? for all four corners.
Pretty cheap upgrade for a big performance step up.

Here is the vid of Chris and I. Our last runs of the weekend. We had 4 laps with no traffic and had a great time lead following. Cars were really equal what a blast.

I had no idea the 06's were twin pots, going to look for some right now, I assume the calipers bolt right up? How about the bracket for the pads do they need to be replaced or do they fit?

Thats what I'm talking about, my Z is my DD I'd prefer maybe 1 or 2 degrees of negative camber but the more contact I can lay down the better (of course) this is just the info I needed

for reference - i need a 15mm spacer to clear the stop techs for daily driving with the 19x11's - i'm not certain that is going to pass the snicker test though once i add those spacers - as i suppose it'll be poking out the side -

i would like to join in on a fender rolling party fwiw -
Wow thats a lot of room, makes perfect sense after what Ilya said. I should be ok then. I do have spacers on. They aren't necesarily needed but I do like the wider stance I have flared and rolled countless DSM's never the Z..makes me nervous idk why maybe because its a different platform...lol, not like the Z fenders are something special. I had an old wooden slugger I used to roll fenders with...that bad boy is gone now

Thanks steidz. I think I'll try the EBC blues. Would you run them on the street as well?

I may try to source some 06+ brakes also.

Eric, I think he does use them for dd. I have the 06 brakes as well and love them. If I remember correctly you replace the front and rear caliper brackets to fit the new caliper and larger rotors. The rear calipers are actually the same as 03-05 but use a larger rotor. 06 brakes are cheap in comparison to oem brembos as well. I got my set from a friend for $150 for 4 rotors, 4 calipers and two front project mu type ns pads. From talking to Jake, he says he really couldnt even tell much of a noticeable difference between his old 06 brakes and his oem brembo set up other than when he switched his pads on the brembos. Now the fugger is switching to 6/4 rotoras lol. The only really big plus side to having the brembos is if you have to change your pads out frequently. So much easier to just pull them out versus taking off the whole caliper but that still isn't worht the money to me lol

I am using them on the street. I have only had them in for a few hundred miles but not a peep from them. They are dusty, maybe the same to a bit more than the Hawk hps if your familier with them.

You need the whole brake unit. the main bracket that bolts to the control arm and the calipers. But they do just bolt in to the same point on the arm. Just FYI.These are for the bigger rotor so you'll have to buy new rotors and pads also.

Where did you pick up the EBC blues? I've seen vendors offering the yellow and red for deals, but I'll have to look for the blues. I'm going to scour the internet for 06+ brakes now. If I can't make the right setup happen before May 12th I'll just throw some decent pads on my 05 brakes.

Here is the video that I took from the front right of my hood....In part 1 Scott is behind me for a couple laps....then in part 2 I let him lead and I followed.

these are shortened version of the whole session....a great way to end the HPDE with a solo drive and having somebody chase you & you chasing somebody.

I got mine here. Use the code" EBC15" for the discount. At least I think it will still work. Double check the link for the correct year for the brake pads you want.

I still have my 03 HPS pads with a bunch of life in them. It was only 2500 miles when I changed to the bigger calipers. Say 40 bucks for all four if you interested.

I have settled in on -2.6 front camber with a little toe out 1/16 to 1/8 total for the fronts. Rears are -1.6 with 0 to 1/16 total toe in.

I have never taken any tire temps but wear seems even. I like about 38 to 40 hot psi on the RS3 all around with a square tire setup.

I modded the front Kinetix arms a bit and can get to - 3.0 camber but it seemed to be a bit much for autocross. Turn in was not as sharp. Might be ok for the track with a smoother style.

I don't think I've met you yet steidz. I'd like to get together and check out your alignment tool. It would be great if I could build one and do my own alignments.

Awesome I just acquired all of it for about 300 goin to pay for it tonight from a member, the size is significant, the addition of a caliper and I should definitely see a difference, I'm excited.

Sweet- I liked mine. You will notice a bit more peddle travel before they bit due to the bigger pistons but you wont have to push as hard to max out the brakes.

I am still game for the alignment get together. I havent had much extra time off on the weekends so my timing isn't great but still game.

Hickory Creek is just north over the Lake Lewisville bridge on 35E. I think i am north of most everyone.
