So I called PRT Performance about getting my Z tuned... I just have very basic bolt-ons:

*Kenetix V+ upper plenum
*MREV2 lower plenum
*UR light weight and underdriven crank pulley
*Kenetix HFC's.
*Have stock intake w/K&N drop in filter.

I was quoted $675 after tax for a tune...

That seems a little high for a tuning a Z with just basic bolt-ons...

it is a dyno tune and it will take him a couple of hours. 300 of that is the uprev license

He said $300 was for the license, which is absurd, but I guess I was just use to my GF's dad's tuning. He's one of the most well known LS tuners and he usually charges $500-700 for complicated tunes, ie LS engines that are full bolt-ons and cammed or are FI

Personally, I think these NA tunes aren't worth the money for the Z until you max out your set up first (i.e., all bolt-ons, cams, etc) or get serious about competitive racing. Plus, I don't think you even get to keep the UpRev license unless you pay more and your tuner can lock it so other tuners can't touch it, IIRC.

I also don't believe tuning NA is worth it as well. I can only justify a tune for FI applications.

But Tucker that's about right..if you thought that was expensive you'll probably **** bricks from jotech.

Trav I think I made 283/232 or something.

how so, have you looked at uprev to see how much they are? my bet is that he does the reflash license

Rofl, nobody's seen it in nearly a year so it's no surprise. Hell, I have a hard time believing that myself.

$675 isn't super high for a tune, but it's definitely not on the more affordable end either. I wouldn't mind paying that much if I had a Camaro with a cam and full exhaust where the tune opened up 75-100 rwhp, but for 7-12 rwhp it's a shocking price.

Exactly! I'll have to see if PRT will work with me since my Z will be such a easy tune.

Honestly, it's a matter of preference. A proper tune will definitely allow your car to run smoother and extract a tad bit more power. Whether or not you can justify the miniscule gain/dollar is up to you.

i went to help tuckere36 at jack junkies... that place is cool. if you are pretty low though i think you might high center going up the ramp into it. we got his trans down, new clutch and flywheel in, pivot ball and throwout are in the trans. he still wants to tackle the rear diff bushings....

and they had bad *** racing go karts, the guy said they went about 100 on straight aways

What time were you guys there? I drove by a couple times, and just happened to see it. I was taking my dad's phone to get fixed, and then went up and down 75 to reset my TPMS before I went back to pick it up.

Not posting in the WTB thread, General, since I'd rather have something local.

If anyone knows of anyone with an 03-05 G35 Coupe FS let me know. Nothing high miles, 75k or over, and prefer a 6 Speed. Brembos a must if an 03-04. Just figured someone may have family, a friend, or a neighbor that may have something before they trade it away.

Happy to pay a finder fee for a successful find.

Miss my Z's but really need something with 4 seats.
