Yes definitely!!!

If your a beginner this is definitely a good spot for a first timer... as the site is very accommodating for spectators, plus NO POLES.....lots of room...and within the metroplex...

See pic of where to find me at the event:
Thats me and Nihsnek lined up for AutoX at Pennington Field.

OT is good for winter only. Although it's wierd going to work when it is dark, then leaving work when it is dark, and only getting sunlight on the weekends.

Why do companies always cut back in the winter, then work our butts off with OT during spring, summer, and fall?

Jason, what about the date before that? Same place, but it seemed like a beginner auto-x, where the date you mentioned was a competition.

Oh, they don't time the practice? I'd get killed in competition. I think I'd have to be in SM or SM2.

I'll have to see once the date gets closer. I'll let some friends know, too.
Do I need to worry about wearing out tires/brakes?

no, you will be fine........see your thinking Road racing, where you do long laps, one after another and peeps need to change brakes and tires.....

AutoX is a poor mans sport......lol

Remember, AutoX = parking lot racing...

you get 40-70 second runs that arent long enough to wear out tires, or brakes, etc.....

If you really enjoy AutoX'ing then you can purchase a cheap set of stockers or used aftermarket wheels, purchase some "Take off" R-compound tires for max $300 bucks and that set of tires will last you 2 autoX seasons......

I bought Hankook Ventus C50 tires from here for $280 shipped: http://www.jbracingtires.net/

remember, you will get about max four total 70 second runs.......but you can ride passenger with me and other drivers and learn the techniques while riding.......its win win.....

I love drifting......but occasionally ill come to an AutoX event to hone in some driving skills......practice the heal toe, you cant beat it for 25 bucks......40 if your not an SCCA member...

Taken directly from the SCCA site:

The Pennington Field site is a stadium parking lot that has a concrete surface. Courses lap times on this site average between 40 and 60 seconds. Most events have 4 runs per driver. The Texas Region uses all the National approved classes and the supplemental classes also. Quite working mufflers are required as there are apartments next to this site.
