You're not supposed to use any washers there per factory diagrams, not to mention these are supposed to be direct OE-replacements, is why I didn't want to.

I'm not really worried about the CELs. I just cleared them and they'll appear again if things are really messed up. My car throws codes (used to be mostly misfire-related codes in Chicago) every other month so I'm used to it.

You guys will have instructors for at least one session or two but everyone here has a really good driving history so you will prob. be instructor free by the end of the day - you guys have better driving skills and are more refined i hope to learn from ya and ride along with ya'll too - they may end up breaking the beginners up into two groups if there are a lot of us - but maybe we can all get on the same sessions together - watching everyone's vids ya'll are VERY familiar with your car and have tons of skill -- I am in no way shape of an expert and I always run beginner - i am hoping the line i was running last time in the Z will come back for me - but even so i am hoping to take advantage of having an instructor as well - my braking points are HORRIBLE - i can't figure out where to stop plain and simple -

Mikes advice on things to practice if you remember them - these will aid in your chances to ditch the instructor and making you safer

Wave or acknowledge at/the corner workers - they are after all going to be the ones saving you if something dumb happens -

On straight always only - check your mirror at the exit of the turn going onto straight and mid of the straight - tap your rear view mirror if you see someone behind you - but you aren't going to let them pass at that moment - they may not see you but it shows you see them and they can be prepared to pass soon - this also prevents them for cussing you out waiting to pass - well - to some extent -

Use your hand signal and slow down to let someone pass on the left always - never on the right passing is only on the straights if signaled (or safe never in a turn or entering a turn) - for example Miata's; I hate them - so i'm going to pass them regardless of signals even in turns i seriously don't care so passing a miata on the straight is safe... lol jk -

We are not racing -

Listen to your instructor - they are typically track members - they are awesome - if you stay with your instructor all day - that is awesome - that means - they enjoy it - they want to see you get better - and they don't trust you to drive on your own (haha) jk.

Most important i think for you guys - do NOT EVER let a car behind you cause you to feel pressured - ALWAYS stick your line and your braking and your line and your braking NO MATTER WHAT - some cars will be very close its just a fact of being on a race track - too many times THIS is where spins happen - over driving the entry of a turn trying to outrun a car behind or even chasing a car that is ahead - drive your line - only worry about the other cars when you want to be courteous and let them pass - it is most important to find a quality line and repeat it so you are predictable to everyone on the track and you are able to tweak your line and make small adjustments to get better -

I think in Dec take aprox 2 laps warmup before you get ballsy - cold track and tires are kinda goofy - i did not take my traction vsd vts whatever off at all - it didn't interfere and actually helped a couple times - i'd suggest leaving it on - but obviously thats up to you - our Z will do the entire track in 4th gear! you too can be like fith haha - 3rd gear will get you some damn good fun though - but if you feel like your car/tires/brakes are goofy - the Z loves 4th gear around that track. I went from 2:42 per lap - to 2:12 in one day - in the Z - much of that improvement was still staying in 4th gear the entire time - that is the weirdest thing to not shift out of 4th -

bad side for me is i am running my re-11's on their last ever track day - so Scott - to you sir i say aaaaaarrrrrgggggghhh..... also i hate my helmet - it is teh gey

Chris P - Transponders are probably indeed avail, typically they are 40 bucks if i remember correctly - but i have never asked at eagles canyon - the go-pro's and vids and friends at the track usually provide the lap times for fun -

I'd suggest everyone bring at least a few bottles of water and some cash for burgers or pack a lunch - i typically pack my lunch and bring around 12 or more bottled waters - gotta stay hydrated -

the gas pumps there take cards - so you can get gas at the track and its not much more expensive so that is nice -

if you think your pads are low - bring an extra set - eagles canyon can be tough on pads as it has a lot of high speed braking -

Travis if you aren't gone on that day come out! - We should all aim to meet up early as fck for breakfast at a Mcdonalds or something - not that place in Lewisville lol

I just looked up how to replace the knock sensor/harness -- DO NOT WANT.

Chris... what is wrong with your knock sensors ?

 

No idea if it's the harness or the sensor, but it's throwing an "excessively low voltage" code. I'm going to just get the harness and hope that's what's causing the codes. I'm reading that the sensors don't really go bad too often and it's mostly the harness/wiring deterioration.

 

What happens if you just erase the codes...will they come back right away ?

Can you clear them ? I have a OBD II if you want to use it to erase them.

 

Yeah, I cleared the codes right after I pulled them and they came back, lol.

I did some quick research last night and this is what I found:
When the ECU detects either P0327 or P0328, adjustments in timing are made as a safety precaution, similar to but not as severe as limp mode. This could be one of the reasons why my car is so low on power output. I'm just not looking forward to replacing the harness.

As for P0159 and P1167, they're O2 sensor related. These mess with timing, too, but I'm guessing the O2 sensor is bad. This should be an easy fix so I'm not worried about these 2 codes.

 

maybe replacing the 02 sensor will get rid of the other two codes?
