I love the cold weather ! I'm so glad the summer is over, the only good thing about summer is that the girls wear less clothing.

Good Morning Peeps.

Good fall morning! Went out to the car to put my stuff in the passenger seat and head out to work this morning and found a not so pleasant surprise. It seems my youngest daughter left my window down Saturday night. And it has been down since. Yeah, nice little downpours yesterday afternoon/evening. This is a pic from behind the passenger seat. There were also some smaller puddles in the pass seat, cupholder in the door, cupholder in the center, and in the leather around the shifter. The floor mat was soaked, so I pulled it out and tossed it in the garage. I had the heater full blast as hot as it could get on the floor all the way to work. I was sweating it was so hot in the car.

This sounds fun. Where are you located and when do you plan to do it? I enjoy audio installs.

You need to pull everything out and clean the floor with anti-mildew stuff. Once everything dries on its own then you should be fine. Don't heat dry the stuff you pull out.

pulll the car in the garage, with top down, discounnect the battery and start disconnecting the seats, unbolt them and remove, remove center console and get the carpet out.....

either clean, vacume and sanitize it or buy another one and replace......but while your there, check everything make sure you soak up any puddled water that got through the carpet.....

after that spray lube into a rag - an odorless lube, so parts of the steel stamp unibody of the car dont begin to rust....there are corners and welded nut plates where the seats go that lube would be good to spray...

Jason, thanks for the rundown. I'll be browsing through my service manual to see how to take everything out properly. Fortunatley, the driver's side is all dry. I'll double check later today, but I think it is safe. Is there any harm in driving it around without the pass seat in (other than any warning lights)? I wouldn't think so. I may get started on it tonight when I get home. Everything seems to work. Window rolled up, seat moved and the heater worked. So no electrical problems at this point. At least now I can clean my seat heater switches. They got some soda spilled on them a while back and they are a little gummy.

My wife suggested I trade it in for a Jeep, since she is wanting one. I gave her a not so nice look. Women.

You better get that cleaned up quick - letting it sit will allow the water to rust the metal and lets just hope you dont have power seats - if you do pray to god that who ever worked the assembly line that day didnt leave any open wires to mess up anything

taking the carpet out shouldnt be too hard but just a PITA you will have to remove your seats and some other interior peices to get it out w/o tearing or deforming the carpets pre-made shape

but good luck my friend - Garage FTW

yes, power seats, and they were working this morning. I hope I don't destroy anything getting the carpet out. Times like this I wish I normally parked my car in the garage.
My wife left the top down overnight one night, and luckily nothing happened to it and nothing was stolen.

if i am not mistaken i think the carpet is all 1 peice - i had to remove my center console for an install and i could of swore i saw carpet under it

it will be time consuming best thing to do is have an open space to be able to group the parts in to sections and label everything lol esp if you have to remove bolts lol put those in a labeled freezer bag
