Default Utec doesn't fit??

Had some free time today and thought I'd start playing with this thing, but I can't get the damn thing to fit. Its like there is too much padding up under the dash, are you guys forcing it up in there? this is on an 05.

I managed to get the bracket on to both mounting points but couldn't get myself to tighten it down as the utec cabling was definetly pressing against the padding on top.

I hope I'm doing something wrong but I've followed the installation instructions exactly. I'll see if I can post some pics of what I'm doing...

I think it'll work if I cut some of the padding out but I hadn't heard of anyone having to do that.

It's a PITA to fit in and it's a tight space, but with a bit of pressure and patience if fits.

It's worse for the G35. Cutting off all of the stock brackets is apparently required (based on thread over at G35driver.com). Hesitating to move forward to it for this reason.

On the G35's we remove the stock ECU Bracket and Zip tie it in with the ECU..

Good idea for the G35's guys. I think double sided 3M tape(thin ones) will do a good job

350Z is a real tight fit, as mentioned. G35 is worse, and only bolt down the floorboard bolt, and zip-tip the top mount. It's very secure, and you cant see anything once the dash board is replaced.

In my G35 I retained the OEM bracket, but mostly because it contains a mounting support for the lower dash piece.

(don't laugh) I used carpet tape to secure the ECU and the UTEC to the OEM bracket, and then used a few wire ties to hold it all together. I had to bend the hell out of the OEM bracket that holds the wiring harness to make it all work. It would be nice if the nice people at UTEC could reduce the size of the enclosure a bit. Oh, I also hacked off every mounting post that was there, six if I remember correctly! I took some pics last night, I will post them later.

For reference, the Unichip is 1/4 of the size of the UTEC!!!!
