*Update*
I have fixed the COM port issue with windows 7 and UTEC...The issue was that window 7 only reads digital ports...the fix...restart windows press F8 at the boot screen and disable the digital drivers...this will have to be done everytime you restart the computer...kinda a pain in the *** but at least I got it to work!
now time to do my 125shot tune!!!

I have a UTEC that I picked up used... I think it was originally purchased in 2008. My point, I have no idea what version it is, can't check it at this moment, but was curious about these 'UPGRADES'.
The link below states Version 5.0 is available, but it's in a review from 2005!?
http://www.prostreetonline.com/x/turboxs-utec.asp
"vi. Launch Control/Flat Shift – This is a function that can help you launch the car with consistency and help you to shift smoothly. It works by using your clutch switch for activation of the secondary rev-limit. As long as your clutch pedal is depressed and you are at full throttle the secondary rev-limit will be active and it will limit your revs to the value you set. It is common for you be able to build 10+ psi within 3-5 seconds of using the Launch Control during a start, making for fast 60ft. times. The Flat Shift portion work when you are shifting through the gears whenever you depress the clutch it activates your secondary rev limit allowing full throttle shifts without over revving the engine.
vii. Software Upgrade- The UTEC will have periodic software updates to further innovate it’s tunability and flexibility. The most current version of software will be available on our website www.turboxs.com .
viii. Remote Map Selector- The remote selector gives you the capability to switch between your UTEC maps. It also allows you to revert back to full stock ecu control on map 0 (when stock sized injectors are used). Maps 1 through 5 are your UTEC tunable map locations. Map 6 would be your Valet mode, limits boost to wastegate pressure (if using utec boost control) basically making the least power so you can hopefully leave your car with the friendly but car crazy valet guy with hopes of seeing the car again. Map 7 is your security mode, the car will not start. The car cannot be bump started or jumped when security mode is enabled."
I like the last two maps

Hi, in Australia, we dont have many tuners for the G35 as its a import so i need to know how exactly do the tuners tune with Utec? What do they need..
I though I would have to get a TUNER REG SYSTEM from turboxs and use thier software to tune?
http://mpsav.com/MPSUTECLogger/MPS_U...r_Download.htm
But with that software link above is a tuner able to buy a pc cable and plug the Utec straight into the laptop and tune away using the full features of the Utec unit?
Will I need the boost solanoid or anything for the Utec to tune correctly?
If so it's stupid how it wont allow u to program it from the stock box and control boost, FI is all about boost......
Thanks for helping me with all the questions

No one ever bother to figure this one out? I'm having the same issues with my mps utec logger. Any help would be appreciated.
Some one knows if there is a way to bypass the protection password?
Two years ago, Jermaine from TurboXS came to Spain to instruct the personel from a shop here in spain, and as a demo, he tuned my car (paying only for the dyno time). The car ran as never before, smooth like butter and strong as hell. They protected the tune with a password, what in general I don't like, but I did understand.
The problem is that I have made more mods to the car and I think that there is more power under the hood, but I can't make modifications to the tune. Also it can be dangerous as I'm starting to run very lean.
In my experience there isn't people with enought knowledge with the UTEC here in Spain to make a tune as smooth and strong as I have, so making a new tune from scratch is not an option.
I also tried contact Jermaine to supplicate some solution but he told me that he didn't lock my UTEC, it was the shop, but the shop says just the opposite
My intentions are to modify my own tune, not to share with no one ( I'm the only one that I know here in Spain that has an UTEC, so anyone to share anything
), but I have the problem with the password

so i purchased a ton of parts for my 2006 g. and i emailed the local tuner to get my car tuned and he just told me he no longer supports uprev. the last time i was there he did. i have all the parts installed (except the maf)so the car cant be driven far. my list of mods are:
vortech v3 tuner kit
2.87 gtm pulley
kinetix ssv intake
momentem headers
z1 test pipes
hks exhaust
440 dw injectors
walbro fuel pump
snow performance Water/meth
z1 crank pulley
tim wolf flywheel and clutch
uprev maf
uprev tuner (the $700 one)
I guess im screwed till i can figure out what to do. anysugestions welcome. live in buffalo ny. not many tuners here.

440cc injectors are so close to stock, you will absolutely no issue driving that thing cross country if you wanted. just pull the cog belt , drop back in stock MAF and it will drive like stock
So I purchased a used Utec that was bricked by the previous user, and I re-flashed it to work again with the upgraded firmware.
Since I got this so cheap is it still worth using, I mean I know I can get a Uprev tune for about 650, but I figured since I have the utec at such a stupid low price why not use it??
Thoughts?

+1. UTEC's are underrated by this community... just as long as you got a 'good' one that doesn't blow coil packs or induce limp mode. My Z has been boosted for 70k miles (130k total) with a UTEC and 440cc's. Drives like stock still making 400+WHP.
The interface is old school and not a lot of columns in the tuning tables but it is definitely a very capable piece of hardware.
Would definitely use it over uprev like str8dum said.
Map, boost control, safeguards, datalogging....and your not flashing your OEM ecu. Multiple maps, easy map switching without steering wheel controls...user tunable with free software.
