No. I honestly can't see anything the UTEC can add over Osiris functionality for NA operation other than you having direct editing ability of the maps (which sounds like UpRev is working on also).

And in fact, Osiris is handy to have even if you decide to go FI (particularly with Cipher packaged inside). I got Cipher first, then the UTEC, now going FI and Osiris is helping with things like idle and speed limiter.

We'll just have to wait and see what the new big software update for the UTEC brings to the table...

Lets also not forget the 1444 error code that about 15+ cars i've now heard of are all showing. This is also a major issue that is not related to tuning...

Unfortunately turboxs doesn't test at high altitude, so i don't how they'll be able to resolve that 1444 code (which I believe are mostly reported out of Denver). That's a weird issue, no doubt...

I, honestly have givin up hope.. I am now leaning towards Fcon or AEM ATM as I am tired of waiting for more resolution.. I could care less about a GUI, it's the resolution I am after along with launch control..

GL fellas as I do hope it comes out soon for you..

I found if I pulse the throttle after dropping rpm and shifting, it stops my power loss and or bucking. Why the heck is that?! It seems to be a problem when control shifts from the reflashed ECU to the UTEC. If I come in full throttle from this shift...problems. If I come in from the management shift pulsing the throttle...all is good.
??!!

Monthly bump.

Come on Turbo XS, give us a bone. I'm about to ditch this unit in favor of a mail-it-in tune believe it or not.

Sorry for further adding to this thread, but I recently purchased a used Utec from a member with similar bolt-ons as my Z. It has two professional tunes on it.

I am experiencing intermittent hesitations during hard pulls into the high rpm ranges. It will happen once every couple of hard pulls, and it does not occur at the same rpm (though it only manifests between 5000 and 6500 rpms). I just installed the unit, and I haven't grounded it yet (I will be doing so this weekend).

From the symptoms I have described, does it appear that I have the grounding issue, or is my knock sensor kicking in? I am NA with a cat-back, 5/16ths spacer, and popcharger, original owner ran a cat-back, no spacer, test-pipes and a K&N drop-in.

Answer: UTEC is a pice of crap. Ditch it and get a Haltech (or one of the other real tuning devices), or one of the Technosquare reflashes.

I wouldnt say a piece of crap... mine works great. It just lacks support and updates but it gets the job done... I really wish there was more support/updates though..

Still the best unit for stock block setups, and mild boost, IMHO.

First you have to give more info... Second, you cant just plug a used utec tuned from a different car and expect it to be the same. I dont care if you have the same bolt-on, every car respond differently. Third, you haven't installed the unit properly so get the grounding issue resolved first. And lastly log a few runs coz your logs will tell you what is going on.

The one thing missing from Uprev is overboost cut, and good knock detection/feedback control. But the overboost cut is the big one.

/\+1 I think uprev is a good option but I do agree that overboost cutoff and active knock control is a must for FI that is knock limited. I cant count how many times those features saved my motor. If you are on stock block, protection is everything in my book. I rather have the extra protection than have perfect drivability without any protection. Just to many things can go wrong and no perfect tune can protect you from it... A good boost controller boost cuttoff is not as good as an ECU/EMS overboost fuel cutoff.. Just my .02

Edit: I think rcdash was talking about NA then yes, Utec dont have anything extra it can add over Osiris.
