Updating UTEC to 2.8d ?
I had to try various combinations of plugging/unplugging the cable, turn the ignition on/off, etc... I did find that if you had the flash switch towards the TXS symbol, it wouldn't see the cable in the Hyperterminal, but it would still see it in the reflash program.
Really weird, but I finally got it to work

This thread needs to be stickied!!!
I udgraded from 2.6 to 2.7 without any troubles, but upgrading to 2.8 sucked!
If I hadn't found this, I was feeling screwed.
On the 2.7 upgrade, I never had to upload the throttle.mot file. This time, I bypassed that step again, and the throttle didn't work.
Here's what I had to do:
I was connected Serial to Serial. (fortunately, my laptop had a docking station with a serial port!)
I followed the manuals instruction and kept getting the same errors as everyone else. I even tried changing the baud rate, but it still failed. After reading this thread, I went back to car.
I opened up the flash program, selected the file, and changed the baud rate to "19200." Then, I flicked the switch on the UTEC, put the key in the ignition, and turned the car on. I uploaded the file perfectly!
After realizing that the throttle didn't work, I came back to this thread and found westpak's instructions!!!! I flicked both switches on the UTEC into the programming mode. I turned on the laptop, opened the flash programmer, selected the throttle file, set the baud rate to "19200", ticked "verify", and then turned the car on. Once the car was on, I uploaded the throttle.mot file perfectly!.
Finally, turn the car off. flip both switches back in the normal mode, and then you can finally start the car!!!!
Thanks for all the help!!!
Again,..MODS PLEASE STICKY THIS THREAD!!!!
