Default Unichip questions, i got one new and cheap

I paid $725 brand new from a local retailer, and the cheapest i found online was like $750. I figured i could sell it if i didn't want it for what I paid for it. What does it do and what kind of power can it lay down and control. Help me out as i'm new to the VQ

Welcome. Unichip alters Air-Fuel ratio and timing. Plenty of information in the tuning forum.

Good luck trying to resell it for the same price. What you purchased was the older version of the Unichip. The newer version Unichip Q+ is already out. Plus most tuners go with UTEC because there's a lot more people that tune UTECs as apposed to Unichip (very few). Luckily the tuner near me is getting certified to tune Unichips. You'll be lucky to resell it for $400-$500.

I'm just curious why you shelled out $725 for even though you have no idea what it does for a VQ. Probably should have asked questions first before buying it.

If your car is bone stock I'd expect about 10hp from tuning

Ditch it and go with something more powerful if your plans are FI or HIGH power. If you're plannin on putting around all motor with few bolt ons, give it a whirl.

Is the Unichip ONLY for Z's? (this specific one, the exact one Brendon bought)

And how about UTEC? Reason I'm asking is I believe I'll eventually have to up my fuel system if I wanna go higher than 6.5 lbs and AMS in Arlington Heights, IL (http://www.amsperformance.com/) are starting to work with UTEC and probably won't do Unichip.
