Yes.

If your not FI and havent taken your Z to 160, then removing the limiter to do 172 is POINTLESS. Besides dynoing purposes. 160 isnt a good idea, though I've taken it to that speed. Look up top speed runs on youtube, theyre like 2 minutes long. Very long time to be speeding down a highway or road going 140+. because once it gets to around there it crawls. Wind resistance kicks the cars ***. If you were running an exotic that got to 160 in no time flat than fine, but just because your not AT 160 doesnt mean its not safe. That whole time before your building to 160. 120...130...140...150...151,152,153.... ya know what I mean? I did my run at 3amish, spur of the moment thing, was very angry. Couldnt see anyone for miles, I had 2 lanes and a divider. Before I knew it I caught up to 2 car that were miles ahead of me.

Chebotto, will I be able to plug a consult III or 2 after the reflash is done? I wonder what would I have to do in order to diagnose the veh w/ any issues...

All I'm going to say is that I have a lot of wide open highway in the middle of nowhere at 3-6 am on the weekends and that I hit 160 mph on average at least once a week. I drove at that speed several times for at least 15 minutes without passing a single car, to give you an idea of how barren it is at times. The few times I caught up to other cars I let off the gas and was at or under 100 by the time I passed them. I could use the governor increase for one good reason. The Camaro State Troopers can go 168 mph. Not that I'd ever run from the law.

It's a crappy pic, but see ANY cars here?

You took a picture of your speedo while traveling at an indicated 160mph?

I never said it was my speedo or that I took the pic, and you can never prove otherwise.

But even if I did, why are you asking? Just because some people are scared of that speed doesn't mean you have to drive with a death grip on the wheel and using both hands. It's actually much easier to control the car with a light grip on the wheel and not being all tensed up. The Z is very stable at 160 mph imo. I don't even have a spoiler, yet...

Nice picture, and I agree with you, easier to drive without the death grip on. I haven't moved up to that speed yet but lets say that I did get a ticket for doing 194 KPH (Canada eh!) and I was slowing down. Thank god. Same year and color of car as you, got the GT so I don't know if we have the exact same. So does the gov'r cut you off at that speed? Know of any simple way to get rid of that electronic glitch? Or a full reflash will be what is needed.
What spoiler are you looking at? I have a Strosek that I will be ordering soon, in a city of 600,000 my car is unique already, with that spoiler, even more so.

Grand Touring model has a couple of extra options that mine doesn't, at least in the US anyway. Like Nav system and Brembo brakes. I don't know of any way to remove the speed limiter without a reflash at this point in time. But all it does is limit the speed. It doesn't cut the fuel when you hit it, the car will just not accelerate anymore. It sticks right at 160 mph and stays there until you let off.

Curious. What is your MPG at that speed? GT has the Brembo's, special rims, 19" rear and 18" front. little spoiler I think? May be wrong on the last one. Feels solid at that speed? Not floaty? Not that I would want anyone testing that theory at that speed.

Yeah, it has a spoiler, but you can also get the spoiler on any trim level as an add-on (as you can with just about any other option too except for things which would require re-wiring the dash or something).

No, feels solid to me. Feels like it does at 120 or even 90, but I also don't push it hard in that respect. I even had it up to 150+ on a wet highway one night about two weeks ago and taking the turns without letting off... which had me a little tense I'll admit (my *** was puckered). The lift on the back is minimal. IMO, you would only need a spoiler if you were going faster than 140 mph a lot, just for rare instances like taking a corner while cresting a hill, or taking a relatively sharp corner for those speeds that's not banked. Also maybe if you are racing at those speeds and need to be able to steer more sharply. At those speeds I don't recommend sharp or abrupt steering movements even with a spoiler. Even in a controlled environment you are going to seriously damage something if you wipe out (even if you don't hit anything, the dirt itself is going to bend rims and probably axles). I plan on getting a nismo spoiler in the future, but it's not on the top of my list. I don't see the other stock spoiler as being worth the money. It adds very little downforce.

The 40 mile stretch of highway I do this on I have travelled almost every weekend for the last 3 years. I know it well and I have plenty of time to see and slow down before overcoming any other travelling vehicles (speed limit is 70 and most people do 80-90). Now an animal, like a panther or a deer, would really make a mess out of me really quick. But that's not risking anyone but myself and the animal (which I probably couldn't safely dodge at 90 either).

MPG, I have no clue. But I notice that I eat almost twice as much gas taking this trip when I do 160 most/all of the way. So I'm guessing 12 mpg maybe? As you can see at 160 mph it's at ~5600 rpm and that's in 6th gear. An AT would probably be worse since it only has 4 (or 5?) gears and therefore the overdrive gear is smaller than the overdrive gear in a MT.

The pic looks authentic, I have one at 125. However, I think I know the road he's talking about, and I would call BS on doing all 40 miles at 160mph, every week, and not meet up with a single car.

Oh i definitely believe the speedo is pegged but nobody is driving at 155-160 for 15 mins. Thats the BS part. Oh and just cuz the speedo says 160 doesnt mean he is actually going 160 but that argument has been hashed out elsewhere on this forum.

I didn't say I made the entire trip, EVERY WEEK, with the car pegged. I said I've made the entire trip several times like that. As far as the pic, call BS all you want. I really don't care. Come meet up with me and we'll run this stretch together sometime and see who chickens out first and let's off... I'll bet most of you wouldn't keep it pegged through some of the corners on this stretch. Want to call BS? Come back up your mouth. I already know your response...

Congrats clown! at post 106 you have already attained the status of wanna be e-thug! 100 more retard post like this and you will be on your way

Buddy its not a matter of chickening out at 155-160 its about having common sense. Im gonna bet that either 1.) your very young or 2.) don't have much intelligence. I have pegged my car to its limits(155 for the record) with another member on this board right behind me. I only did it because I had just gotten the car, broken it in and wanted to test its limits. It is a rare occurrence and not something I will likely do often just because of the fact that I have more to live for than to prove Im not a chicken to a clown.(that would be you)

Never gotten past 135 myself.

Theres no need to go 160. And if you think it feels stable at 160 or that its easier to steer with 1 hand as you said in the other thread you are more idiotic than you sound. Think about how your parents would feel if you /yourself.

+1 on the guy being a clown!
I hit 160 before according to the speedo before but for you to keep doing that at a constant pace, I wouldnt feel sorry for you if I hear of a Z crashing into a guardrail and killing the driver. There might not be another car in view but what if something just pops out while youre driving down like that? What if a cop pulls you over?

E-thug? LOL. I said to meet me and we'll prove it. It has nothing to do with the internet.

1) I'm turning 31 in two weeks

2) My Level of intelligence is higher than most.

I wasn't trying to prove anything to anyone when I drove these speeds. I had no idea I'd be posting anything about them here in this forum at a later time, and I was alone when doing it. I drove at these speeds because I liked it. I can assure you that I will not be dying anytime soon. I've driven like this since I got my first SS Camaro when I was 19. So I guess everyone in the world who loves the adrenaline rush of high speeds is not very intelligent? I think you're about to start stepping on a lot of toes besides mine...
