Understood.

My thoughts are that if you're gonna go for the reflash, might as well spend a few more bucks and at least pick up a y-pipe and HFCs/test pipes. You'll a very decent gain in power and your Z will sound even sicker than it already does.

Trust me, I know exactly how expensive the mods can get (my previous car was an '03 LMS Z). With exhaust parts though, you don't lose anything by buying used. MUCH cheaper and you'll get the same gains.

But, as long as you're happy, that's all that matters. Plus, like you said, you got a bike for the speed part anyways.

Unless you want the nismo intakes just for the sound and to complete the "Nismo".
I concur with Profink, you should definitely bring in your stock intake. I ended up having Technosquare swap my stock intake back on. All aftermarket intakes just make alot of noise and at most just make your engine bay look meaner. All show no go.

Last Tuesday Technosquare completed the prototype reflash on my 07 G35S. Tadashi (TS Tuner) recommeded to run the stock intake instead of the Fujita. Running the stock intake gained an addtional 10hp. I will post my dyno result once I get a chance to scan it.

Although if you're interested in sound and looks I say keep the aftermarket intake. Just my $.02....

wait a second, cheb, you still telling me you have NO 07+ G35 5at reflash yet. MONTHS ago, you were talking about the donor car coming in for tuning. what gives? You have a garranteed 25+ sales for the g35 5at in the first half year(at 15000 dollars total). and a few more than that on the 6mt.

help the G's out man! i don't want to go ahead and invest in dual safc's when the timing game can be handle by you at the same price.

thanks!

Your are correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my Z reflashed yesterday.... at TechnoSquare.

I have a comparison with two other '07 Z's without aftermarket CAI and I actually lost 7HP from adding the Nismo CAI...

All cars were dynoed on the same machine in the same shop so it is hard to argue with the facts... as it turns out... I measured the intake pipe diameters of the stock and the nismo intake and found out that they are not the same size... wtf???

this is a big f***ing problem as the Mass Air Flow sensor is stock and was calibrated from the factory with the factory pipe diameter... so, my next phone is the Nissan/Nismo about how they can claim 10+HP to the tires... this is NOT TRUE!!! This might be corrected by an updated/replacement of the MAF sensor.

So, my original claim needs to restated... the HR engine is near perfect as is!!! I think the only major HP increase will come from FI.

^ That sucks to hear. Seems like the only decent intake mod is the drop-in K+N filters. I'm curious how the Popchargers would do with a flash.

Don't give up on bolt-ons just yet... like I said, there are decent gains to be had with exhaust parts.

How does the car run after the flash?

bboypuertoroc, you seem to know your stuff... I agree with you as the ONLY intake mod is the replace the stock filters with K&N.

I would rather not change the look of the nismo exhaust... I know some people do not like them, but they are a distinctive characteristic of the Nismo, so... that is one of the reasons i bought the car in the first place.

I would be willing to change the pipes as long as I can keep the muffler , but there is nothing of that kind right now.

I try

You can replace all the piping and still keep the NISMO exhaust on there. It'll fit just fine with an aftermarket y-pipe and test pipes/HFCs. Only thing about the exhaust on the NISMO Z is that I can't remember if it's just the axle-back that's NISMO or if it's the full y-pipe back. If it's only the axle-back, you should be able to get the mid-pipe also.

The muffler on the Nismo looks to be the same as the factory muffler for all 350Z's, just fancied up a bit. If it's different, it's not by much. All the piping is the same as a standard 350Z. I measured the piping and it's 2-1/4". The inlet on the muffler is 2-3/8". A tiny bit larger, but nothing I think you would get any gains from.

In order to modify the exhaust and keep the factory muffler, you would need a setup such as Esprit's "front pipe" which will bolt to the factory muffler. The Nismo S-Tune mid-pipe WILL NOT WORK. I don't know how big the piping is on the esprit setup, but you've still only got a 2-3/8" inlet on the muffler.

Pretty much. They should've made the muffler so it would bolt up to the S-tune mid-pipe and then just used and adapter to taper it down to the factory mid-pipe size. Then, pretty much everyone interested in modifying their car would've bought the s-tune piping from Nissan and they could've cleaned up. Oh well. I think a 3" single looks will look better anyways.
