I am not certain of the material composite but if it is something similar to a USB flash device, then you'll never saturate the cells.

The great thing about Osiris is that it does allow real time tuning off of your laptop. You can save this tune like any normal file and come back to it if you still want to work on it. UpRev actually recommends this is you are doing a lot of tuning so you minimize the total number of ECU flashes.

With that said, I know the guys at UpRev have flashed a single ECU hundreds of time so it can be assumed that it is pretty safe.
That's great to know!!! some tuning programs of other ECUs let you change some things in the RAM of the ECU on the fly, but for certain specific functions you had to flash the ROM (the not volatile memory).

I know that that today you don't have to flash a ROM chip, but is certain that a non volatile memory exist in the ECU (if you unplug the battery you don't loose the data), and also is true, that this memory was not thought for be flashed several times...any way nowadays, the solid state memories (like USBs) are cheap, so it's possible that maybe the ECU uses some kind of this memory.

Please Uprev, iluminate us!!!!

We tune in RAM, then you save that file and flash the ROM. It's the only way to do it.

We don't have exact numbers on how many flashes the ROM will handle and we don't support flashing it daily, we'd rather be safe than sorry.

For the guys that don't have cruise control, they are forced to flash it any time they want to switch maps so it is then similar to buying or competitors product, but then again you can always wire up cruise control and use map switching. The stock ECUs have cruise control built in, if you don't have it on your car that just means the switches and wiring is missing... go find the diagrams

Ok, I installed the flash but it made no difference on my cranking/start up.. The start up was better but still had to mash the throttle to start up or id get misfire code....

I cleared the code with the cipher.... What now Uprev?? Do i send you the flash back to try something else?

When you are tuning on RAM and you don't flash the ROM when is all the data loss, at the next engine stop or only if the battery fails?

I suppose that with a laptop you could load in the ECU RAM what ever map you want without the need of flashing the ROM (maybe for a track day)

Any time you turn the key off the RAM wipes. If you stall on the track you'd lose your tune.

Let me know when you get your car over to James. I want to make sure he's got everything under control for you, he's a good guy and should get your car healthy in no time.

Why mail it back? You're going to need something to fix the issue. If James hasn't called you back he may have forgotten or he may be very busy. Call him or call us and if he can't get you taken care of we have the ability here at Uprev to handle it. He's just closer to you.

Yeah I did that because people PM me and think that I get a chance to check it every day, and then they get upset because I only log on here every few days. Give me a call at the shop, Jared is knee deep in some updates working on Ver2.0 right now.
