Default What EMS for HR?

Saw the EMS sticky list but am wondering if all of those systems would work on a vq35hr?

Also, does utec have it's own site with info about themselves? Trying to figure out the differences between all of these EMS and why some cost twice as much as others.. I don't mind getting redirected to another thread. Thanks!

there is no utec for the HR

The F Con and Haltech can both be used with some modifications

I would recommend Osiris or FCon VPro.

If you pair the Haltech with the FCON knock amps, George might be willing. Especially with the CAM control the Haltech provides... Admittedly, Osiris provides that too. Let's see you control timing based on wheelspin though Jay! Haltech has done well, but needs to follow through soon with some of its promised feature set to truly set it apart from the competition.

I did a search on "Reflash" because many people have mentioned it but this is what I have understood about reflashing your ecu.. please correct me if I'm wrong.

A reflash is basicly you going to a tuner and they tune your car, via their aftermarket software which hacks your ecu and thus erased and reprogrammed your ecu to run in this a/f ratio/condition forever or until you get it reflashed???

a reflash, which is the method of over-writing the factory software which is stored on a Flash type memory, with a new set of operating parameters. Such as new timing/ignition maps, new fuel maps, as well as other drivability, such as drive by wire throttle response, rev limit, and speed limit.

this method is commonly done through either the OBD2 port or directly written to the ECU through desktop hardware/software.

Exactly what he said. It's nothing detrimental, just happens to be the way you do things on the stock ECU. Though some people don't understand the terminology, being that this is somewhat new in terms of performance (5-10 years vs. 30+ as with most performance mods)

Even the OEMs reflash the ECUs when they update for emissions or other purposes.

Okay.. okay.. uhm.. one last question and I think this would ultimatly point me in the direction I want to go for now..

If I get my car Reflashed..

Would my car always be in race mode? Like, regardless if I'm just cruising on the highway, stuck in traffic or wide open throttle?

Nope a reflash can be a full tune. Depends on the company who is supplying it. Some companies only offer basic fuel and timing tuning compensation. Others offer full tuning capabilities including forced induction support.

If you'd like we have two Pro Tuners in South Florida that you could stop by and talk to and get more information from. Maybe they can give you a better idea and do it more rapidly than posting on a forum. If you look around, you'll see Uprev has a number of happy customers, and any of our Pro Tuners should be able to help you with tuning on your car.
