The Great Nissan Swindle..!
I got off the phone this afternoon fuming after being talked to very rudely by a Nissan UK representative, and in true to form got a totally different answer to my question than the last time I phoned, only 2 days earlier...
It transpires (latest phone call) that the only cars available in the first batch will be GT-packs with RAYS wheels..!!!! something that my dealer knew nothing about even today and something that wasn't included in any literature....WHAT A CON...!!! how can they dictate and make us, 'so say', chosen few with the pre-order tickets pay for wheels at an extra £1000 that we don't want or need. They don't even look that different or add anything to the car, as the original spec wheels are the same size and look great.
I don't mean to rant but I've bought a lot of expensive cars in the past and never have I been told that I have to pay for optional extras I don't want....I nearly told them to stick their car after the chap said I wouldn't get a base GT in metalic well into 2004 if I didn't buy the wheels......Then he told me that if I changed my mind and purchased the wheels to get one of the first cars, a change of order would send me to the back of the queue.....grrrrrr
PLEASE don't give into them and buy the wheels just to own the first cars - we the consumer create the hype and demand for the products and dictate trends and fashions....believe me I've worked in automotive manufacture for 14yrs..
And breath out and relax....phew
As always you pays your dosh and you makes your choice....but not conned into it

I was also surprised when I was told that I could only order the GT pack and Rays, I was told last week though so maybe my local dealership was a little better informed. I agree that it's annoying, but I was going to order this spec anyway, I prefer the rays (about 8lb lighter per wheel than standard alloy) and to my mind they look better.
Anyway car ordered yesterday, but no confirmation yet of a delivery date.

Hey Chill, Muchas
I don't like to say "I told you so" but...
The main thing is that you have to have ordered a GT Pack with Rays. This was announced at the Product Briefing that your dealer attended when they showed them the Blue JDM 350Z with the Jeremy Clarkson cracked windscreen. He should have told you that... mine did.
Take a few deep breaths & relax...
If you have ordered anything other than the GT + Rays it looks like it will be 2004
Still waiting for the call from Nissan

Good luck guys, it is well worth the wait awesome car. I guess they have to get rid of some Rays since the US didn't order too many Track models, but in my opinion they are the best looking wheels and I bought a set to replace my stock 17's.
The Nissan plot has taken another twisty turn....!!!
I rang my dealer again today (I bet he is sick of me already and he has got 8 months of this !!) to let him know that Nissan UK has blamed him for not relaying the latest released info regarding the single spec cars with Rays alloys as a mandatory option. He started to laugh and said they wouldn't do that and he would ring HQ for a definitive answer to this riddle...
Two hours later he rings me up in reciept of an email detailing the launch process and it states that the launch will take place with orders being taken for two models(base and GT-pack) with any options required by the purchaser...!!!!!!
Who do I believe now....?????
Secondly the delay in getting delivery dates allocated is due to customers with multiple car allocation.....in other words some dealers pressed the 'send' 2 or 3 times just to make sure the order went through thus registering 3 times..!!!! Nissan are contacting mutiple allocation applicants by phone first before they can decide how many people will successful with their pre-oder. was also told 300 odd cars were registered in the first 15 mins of the odering process going live...phew, lucky the system didn't crash.
Any orders taken now will result in cars being delivered 2nd quart of 2004
Is the compulsary RAYS wheels rumour clever marketing to shift a few sets that didn't sell in US, all will be revealed......The Sceptic.
Roll on Friday.........D Day, fat lady singing.....
I don't usually moan...bare with me on this one......

OK, so your dealer seems like he is trying a bit of a CYA movement:
The Invite tickets that were sent out stated the following:
"Prices will start from £24,000 and because numbers will be strictly limited, with cars being allocated on a first-come frist-served basis, your Nissan dealer will ask for a £2,000 deposit when you make your order. This will guarantee your place and means you will be able to pre-order to your exact choice of specifiation and colour."
...however...
your dealer's 350 specialist would have attended the Product Briefing where they were issued the Pre-Order Programme pack. This is where it went in to the details of GT Pack only, Rays only & colours where Alezan Leather is available. (In relation to 2003 deliveries) - I suppose that they are right in a way: you can order any specification you want... but you have to wait until 2004.

Hey Muchas,
What dealer is this?
I can't belive that as a paying customer of one of their top end cars you're being given such contradictory information. I'm glad to say that I've not heard of anyone else being treated as badly as you are being.
