Clarkson said on Top Gear a while back that he expects the 350Z to retain it's value for a year, and perhaps even gain some value over the first year... this was based on the new mini being worth £500 more second hand after a year over a new one (because of the waiting list).

fingers crossed.

i see WhatCar are predicting around 47% retained value after one year....that's a shock.. Then settling to about a 40% retained value after 3 years.

Don't know how they got the numbers though, but dissapointing nonetheless

I can't see this happening, seeing as if you ordered a car now it wouldn't be ready for 12 months. I think until the cars are available in under 6 months from a dealer, people will be willing to pay almost full pricefor a used one, just to get one.

But anyway - surely we're all gonna keep our Z's forever and ever??!

I agree Sally,

The What Car figures are based on what exactly?!!!! How many times do the book guides actually relate to what you see in Autotrader!!!??? Never!

The Audi TT, Porsche Boxster, SLK, Z3, Mini etc, etc all had similar waiting lists and desirablility to our Z. They all made money in their first 6 months +. They retained money well after that. OK, they may have had a brand that is stronger, but hopefully "Z" will be such a strong brand with a big demand for little supply, that it should hold it's money for 6 months or so. Ok, I will probably have to sell after a relatively short period due to being a relatively small time buyer who is sacrificing a fair amount for this car. I still need to be getting on the housing market at some point! But, I figure I will not lose much more than a new Fiesta would in the first year (3 grand or so). Audi TT's are still nigh on impossible to get under 20k even tho they have been around since 99'! And the Z will get as big a following I'm sure.

My boss sold her Mini cooper after a year and 13k miles for the same money!! That was with a load of options!
