Autozone currently has M1 5 qt jug + M1 oil filter for $29.99. And Advance Auto also has the same deal for $24.99 after $5 rebate.

I wanted to stock up German Castro 0W-30, so I have been checking their ads.

Anyone know what the normal oil temp is for our motor?
Was cruising last night with some hard driving and it was around 215-220 degrees.

Also, anyone have experience with amsoil? Thinking of switching to that.

Just got an oil analysis done on my 08. I've had it for about 20K miles so far (bought it used) and was curious to see how the engine was holding up (almost 40K on it now). I've been using Pennzoil platinum with 3-4K intervals since I got it, but the last change was with Pennzoil ultra. Looks like that oil is working out well for me.

I live in VA, near DC.

Which would you all recommend?

M1 0w40
Amsoil 0w30
GC 0w30

Can't decide. How will these affect my oil pressure readings?

^All three above are shown to have good results for VQ HR motors.

Amsoil is probably the best out of three and most expensive.

M1 0W-40 is good for hot climate area. So I'd go with either GC or Amsoil since you're in VA.

^If you're worried about the weight, then just go with Amsoil 5W-30. And then get an UOA next oil change.

i have been a certified lube technician for over 5 years now. i would take valvoline synpower 5w30 or 5w40 over any other brand. valvoline synpower has been proven to have over 4 times better wear protection than mobil one and i dont know about you guys but wear protection is my number one goal especially on the new vq35HR!!! high rev is why i want the best oil. havent seen any love for the Valvoline. Recommended by most mechanics for years for a reason.

My UOA is finally in.
Amsoil 0W30 with K&N Filter and the oil was almost 1 year old. I have high sodium content, does that mean I have a coolant leak somwhere?

^Seems like coolant leak.

Check Resolute's thread for the report breakdown.

Thanks for the link.

I'll just have to keep an eye on it for the next UOA.

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and glad to find it!. I have a 2008 350z with the HR and have done about 23000kms , here in Dubai UAE. Have been servicing it at teh dealer to maintain teh warranty, but its over now.

I am not sure if we can really do an oil analysis here in teh UAE but anyways I would like to ask for recomendation on teh oil that suits a hot climate with current temprature beings about 41-45 degrees Celsius (max) and min about 29 degrees Celsius.

Currently I am about 3000 kms since teh last oild change which is carried out at every 5000kms here. The oil pressure needle comes to about the 1/4th point from lowest when at idle at normal running temp and climbs to almost full when at about 5500-6000 rpms. Is that normal? I might be wrong but I don't remember it going so low untill the last oil change.

Pls advise.

thanks

ks

Just switched to AMSOIL signiture synthetic series 5w30 about 50 miles ago. I'll be sending in the oil when I change it.

I put your OA here for reference:

I'm using same oil in my 08. I change oil @6kMi..same as interval suggested in above OA.

Hey,
At start I would like to say I am nowhere near expert as the cars are concerned.
I have recently changed oil from custom Nissan to motul 300 10W40. I noticed the psi is getting pretty high, around max at quite low rpm, 4-5 rpm and I am at the max psi.
I wonder if that is tolerable... it is quite hot now ~30 Celsius and I am worried what will happen in winter, when temp drops to -25 Celsius.

Please give me advice if I should go back to standard oil.

So finally got a sample for my car. Mileage was around 8k during 2012 when I did the oil change. The oil I was running was Castrol GTX 5w-30. Currently running Castrol Edge 5w-30. Here are my results. Let me know what you think. Also, what about the sodium? Results above. Thanks.
