Default Stillen Dual Hi-Flow Intake Polished Long Tube Version

Apparently, Stillen has come out with a long tube version which supposely produces more hp than the initial ceramic short tube version. Anyone, pick one up yet?

$500... But doesn't look like that bad of a design. People love polished metal tubes but I wish they made a pipe with less heat soak.

Whats pretty nice is if you already have the old stillen short tube intake. You can upgrade to the long tubes.

I didnt' even notice that until you mentioned it. When I first saw this, I just took a quick look at the pics and price. Didn't bother reading through everything. Yes, indeed this is a great option. I wonder how much the upgrade would cost?

Yea, I'm wondering too. I just emailed them, so we'll see.

If it's just a pipe swap, I'm not sure I'd want that. Doesn't change the box or the filter - - I bet the OEM plastic arms are more heat resistant than polished aluminum.

The Upgrade is $144 for just the Polished Long Tubes. Thats for My 07 G Sedan anyway. Not sure if the 350Z's will be same price. Stillen is Pricey, but you pay for a good Quality Product. And you Don't half to change the Filter Shields or Filters itself if you have the Short Tube Set-up like me. All you do is change the Stock Intake hose for the New Polished Ones. It Looks better and supposedly yields a little More HP's! But Don't hold your breath!

then again, i didn't how a hot pipe would affect anything.

The air going through a hot pipe will naturally absorb some heat before reaching your plenum. Maybe it's not measurable, but then, what would be the benefit to these pipes anyway?
You can't cool the air going through the pipes - it's too late. But you CAN prevent it from warming up further by using a material that does not transfer heat as well. Like the silicone hoses on an radiator (think Samco).
Imagine super thin hot pipes vs some silicone or temp-resistant pipes wrapped in icepacks... The air going through will remain colder in the second situation. Granted, that's extremely exaggerated but you get the point.

Since there is a huge volume of air traveling through the pipes, they will cool themselves off and stay cool. I had a something similar to the original nismo CAI in my maxima and it always stayed cool.

As far as this $tillen intake kit goes, I can’t believe that they think we are so stupid to drop $500 on it…. or are we?

You think there's enough cold air flowing through to keep the pipes cold? If that's your experience, I won't knock it or doubt you.
But if that were the case, heat soak would be a rumor impossible to conceive of.

I'd like to see a hybrid: material of the OEM, but smooth like the Stillen.
They do look good, though. That's undeniable.

Maybe a silly question, but are the other intakes such as Nismo and Fujita similar to the Stillen Longtube design?

Yes, the biggest difference between stillen and all other dual intake designs so far is their Heat shield. Now that stillen has a long tube design, it's closer to the Nismo/AEM, and Fujita designs. But again, I believe stillen the best heat shield so far. Unless you decide to stick with Factory intake with K&N filters, I personally like the stillen design. Though it doesn't look as fancy, because of it's practically stock look, it very practical.
