what speed/rpm gives the BEST gas mileage?

I've read in these threads that the MPG gauge in our beaZts ain't too accurate. I wouldn't trust that thingy much. I get between 19 MPG (city, jams, etc.), & 26-27 at the freeways--which are NOT too "free" down here, BTW--small island, huge traffic jams.
