Default My Stock 07 dyno/strip weekend(vids)

So this weekend i setup a time Saturday to do some base pulls to see where i stand. its a Bone stock 07 with 9k on it and 93 pump, did the pulls in 4th.

i also hit up the strip today(sunday) to see what kinda stock numbers i can get. i was on the same as above, stock tires, and i have a nismo LSD i just got last week because its a base, but i really don't see it making much differance than someone with a stock lsd on the track... anyway

i have a video or my first run but not the second one which was my faster one

its hard to see but...

60'......2.107
330.....5.840
1/8.....8.320
mph....81.78
1000...11.415
1/4.....13.589
mph....104.15

but here is a video of my first run(13.6@103)

i wanted to get more than 2 runs in but i forgot my helmet and they wouldnt let me run anymore... but i have k&n drop in's and AAM test pipes and y pipe on the way. going to redyno and go back to the track in a few weeks

Jon

do the pulls in 5th. that's our 1:1 gear.

It doesnt make a difference, the dyno is corrected for it. 5th gear on the HR and i'm pretty should he wouldn't be able to redline it.

i know it is but, i saw a few people say it hits speed limiter in 5th so i just told them to do it in 4th... im sure i would get close to the same results.

yes it does make a difference. Do you next pulls in Fifth. I did and no limiter for me. It needs to be 1:1. Study up on it.

thats fine, but a friend of mine has a 03 that he dynoed right before me and his first pull was in 5th and the other in 4th and it was like a 2hp differance thats why i just stuck with 4th

It'll probably read 2-4 hp higher in 5th and thats about it, but I would want a plot with RPM so I could know that the numbers are plotted correctly.

^*You can convert any dyno plot to engine rpm or Mph it is all in the data that comes from the dyno. The only way you would not know the rpm is if the shop forgot to hook up the ignition signal. To have the best calculations you want a 1:1 gear so that information is accurate and does not need to be corrected. Why dyno if you don't care about the 4-5 hp difference. You Dyno to set a base line before modding and the parts you add my only make 4-5 hp. BUT I guess you don't care about accuracy

If this was directed at me....I understand thoroughly how a dynamometer works. I also understand why dynoing in 5th gear is "better", but as long as the before and after dyno's are in the same gear the gains will be shown. All that dynoing in 5th gear will do is produce less visible drivetrain loss in the plot.

Sounds like a heck of a weekend!

It was this statment that made me think you did not know. I am not saying 5th or nothing. I am saying 5th is the best for tuning. My prefference not yours end of story.

Its hard to compare a plot against time. Even MPH would make me happier, but you aren't accelerating the drum at the same rate, so you have no way to compare the relative peaks of this dyno against those of a dyno plotted against speed or RPM. For tuning purposes this dyno is also useless because it doesn't allow you to even guess what RPM the fuel trim is off, much less where your peak torque is (so you can pull a hair of timing if boosted).

Its just a preference to me, tuning from a 4th gear pull vs a 5th gear pull will have only a couple disadvantages. Those would be minimized if the car was being tuned on a loadable dyno (dynapack/mustang/dyno-dynamics, etc.) and thus I don't see a real advantage for 5th gear other than minimizing drivetrain losses and having the dyno read higher.

I dynoed mine twice in 4th gear and 1st run was 255, second was 257, and the third one we did in 5th gear and I hit speed limiter and it only dynoed at 258 so it really didn't seem like that much of a diff, but I did not have any torque numbers because they couldn't find where to connect it

^ auto ? Stock wheels and tires? Mine ran the dyno up to 162 and hit redline.
I have the WinPep 7 software on my computer and I can take run data and format it into RPM/Time/Speed. So as long as I have the data log then I can use what ever format I want. I just take a thumb drive to the dyno with me and down load the run. This way I can check out the raw data myself.

i'm sure someone said it, but i haven't read many of the replies.

you want your pull on your 1:1 gear so that there are no corrections in the software. if you do 1:1, it'll be an exact measurement with the tolerances of the dynamometer, rather than those tolerances, plus mathematical corrections.

Just curious but what rpm gave you the best launch? Im gonna run at the track here soon but want to learn a lil about rwd launch before i go. My subaru lanches at about 5000-5500 and is all go out of the hole but the z seems like itll be harder to me. any advice?

Nice driving. Post the time slip here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html.
